The Late Train
A2Last Saturday Mia and her brother Leo went to the train station at nine o'clock. They wanted to visit their grandmother in Greenfield. The ticket seller said the next train would leave at ten fifteen. Mia and Leo bought two tickets and sat on a bench.
At ten o'clock the speaker said the train was going to be twenty minutes late. Mia felt sad because she had a book for her grandmother. Leo bought two drinks from a small shop. They waited and watched people walk past.
At ten thirty-five the train finally arrived. Mia and Leo got on quickly and found two seats together. The train moved slowly at first then went faster.
After thirty minutes it stopped at River Bridge for ten minutes. A man with a big bag sat near them and talked loudly on his phone. Mia read her book and Leo looked out of the window.
The train reached Greenfield at eleven fifty. Their grandmother waited at the station with her old red car. She smiled and gave both of them a big hug.
