语法

英语动词只有一个人称词尾——第三人称单数的 -s。 它只和 he、she、it 一起出现，其他情况都没有。

he / she / it works, lives, speaks

在疑问句和否定句中，这个词尾转移到助动词上，实义动词则不加 -s：

肯定句 He works in a hotel.
疑问句 Does he work in a hotel?
否定句 He doesn't work in a hotel.
简略回答 Yes, he does. / No, he doesn't.

拼写：在 -s, -x, -ch, -sh, -o 之后加 -es（teaches、goes），以“辅音字母 + -y”结尾的词，字母 y 要改变（study → studies）。

丢掉 -s。

“他在酒店工作” → ✗ He work in a hotel → ✓ He works in a hotel。汉语动词完全没有词形变化，“我工作”“他工作”用的是同一个“工作”，所以英语的 -s 很容易被当成可有可无的小细节。这是中国学习者最顽固的错误之一，到了高级阶段也常常出现。

词尾用了两次。

✓ Does he work?

， He doesn't work。词尾已经转移到 does 上了——不能再加一次。

he 和 she、his 和 her 混用。

✗ My brother Tom lives in Italy. She works in a hotel.

✓ My brother Tom lives in Italy. He works in a hotel.

汉语口语里“他”和“她” 都读 tā，说话时不区分性别，所以说英语时常常脱口而出用错代词。英语里男性一定用 he、his，女性一定用 she、her。
