El superlatiu es forma igual que el comparatiu, però amb the.

com exemples
una síl·laba the + -est cheap → the cheapest, big → the biggest
dues síl·labes acabades en -y the + -iest happy → the happiest
llargs the most + adjectiu the most expensive, the most interesting

Les mateixes quatre excepcions: good → the best, bad → the worst, far → the furthest, little → the least.

Aquí the és obligatori: la cosa és única dins el seu grup, i aquesta és exactament la regla de l'article de l'A1 #14.

Dues preposicions després del superlatiu:

in — amb un lloc the biggest city in the world
of — amb un grup the best of all, the youngest of my friends

one of the + superlatiu + plural: Barcelona is one of the biggest cities in Europe. Aquí el nom ha d'anar en plural: es parla d'una entre diverses.
