Tricky point ~15 min of the core left

Review 1 (lessons 1–5)

Start the lesson Core 13–15 min · steps: 3 · optional: +1

Declared core time. Two of the core blocks carry no figure at all, so the real lesson is longer than this sum.

The irregular verbs block does not apply here: irregular verbs start in lesson 29, and the reader hasn't got the past tense yet.

Tricky point

3 min

Numbers by ear: 13 or 30. Lesson 3 gave the rule; here it is practised by ear only, without the written form.

Ten pairs in random order, read aloud; the reader marks what they hear: 13 / 30, 14 / 40, 15 / 50, 16 / 60, 17 / 70, 18 / 80, 19 / 90, 13 / 30, 15 / 50, 17 / 70.

Tip: if the stress is at the end and you can hear n, it is -teen.

Summary

Covered: lessons 1–5 in full. Next — lesson 7: word order in the English sentence.

End of the core

The lesson counts as done once the exercises are done. Everything after this is optional.

Lesson 7

optional

Mini production

Talk about yourself aloud and then write it down — five or six sentences: name, country, nationality, age, family, what you have got.

Checklist before lesson 7:

  • is there a verb in every sentence (am/is/are or have got/has got)?
  • does the nationality start with a capital letter?
  • is the age with am, not have?
  • is the plural with -s, except children, people, men, women?
  • is the owner before the thing (Anna's sister)?
