Review 4 (lessons 19–23)
Declared core time. Two of the core blocks carry no figure at all, so the real lesson is longer than this sum.
The irregular verbs block does not apply.
Tricky point
3 minThe article again — with the things from lessons 19–23. Many languages have no articles, or use them in a different way, so you do not learn the article in one lesson: you come back to it again and again.
Three cases that cover almost everything:
| you name a thing for the first time | There is a bank near here. |
| you have named it before | The bank is opposite the park. |
| there is only one in this place | Where is the station? |
And two cases with NO article: before an uncountable noun (I like bread) and after by when you talk about transport (by bus).
Go through this text with these five rules: I go to work by bus. There is a café near the station. The café opens at eight. I like coffee.

Summary
Covered: lessons 19–23 in full. Next — lesson 25: what is happening right now.
End of the core
The lesson counts as done once the exercises are done. Everything after this is optional.

Mini production
Talk aloud and then write down seven or eight sentences: what you like, what you want, what you can and can't do, how you get to work, and how to explain the way to the nearest shop.
Checklist before lesson 25:
- is it -ing after like, to after want, and nothing after can?
- does a direction have no subject, and is its negative made with don't?
- in a question about a place, does the verb come straight after where?
- is there no article after by, and is it on foot when you walk?
