Tempo declarado do núcleo.
| your | seu, sua (de você) | Is this your bag? |
| you're | you are | You're late. |
| their | deles, delas | Their house is big. |
| they're | they are | They're at home. |
| there | lá; there is | There is a shop there. |
| its | dele, dela (de uma coisa, de um animal) | The cat drank its milk. |
| it's | it is / it has | It's raining. |
Se der you are, they are, it is, escreve-se com apóstrofo. Se não der, sem.
O apóstrofo em inglês faz exatamente duas coisas:
| substitui uma letra que caiu | it's = it is, don't = do not |
| mostra a quem pertence | Anna's bag, my father's car |
No plural NÃO há apóstrofo: ✗ two book's → ✓ two books.
| enumeração | I bought bread, milk and eggs. |
| oração subordinada na frente | If it rains, I'll stay at home. |
| vocativo | Thanks, Anna. |
I think that it's good.
“terça-feira”, “maio”, “inglês” → ✗ on tuesday, ✗ I speak english → ✓ on Tuesday, English.
A posse com of
“A bolsa da Anna” → ✗ the bag of Anna → ✓ Anna's bag; “o carro do meu pai” → ✓ my father's car.
| your = you're | /jɔː/ ou /jʊə/ |
| their = they're = there | /ðeə/ |
| its = it's | /ɪts/ |
