Grammatica

5 min

be → was/were go → went have → had do → did say → said
get → got make → made come → came see → saw know → knew
take → took give → gave find → found think → thought tell → told
leave → left feel → felt put → put bring → brought buy → bought

First, … Per prima cosa
Then, … Poi
After that, … Dopodiché
Finally, … Infine

✗ I went then home → ✓ Then I went home; ✗ I took then a taxi → ✓ Then I took a taxi.

3

Confondere said e told

say è dire qualcosa, tell è dire qualcosa a qualcuno: He said that, He told me. ✗ He said me → ✓ He told me.

4

after da solo al posto di «dopo»

✗ After, I walked in the city

✓ After that, I walked in the city

In italiano «dopo» basta da solo («dopo, ho girato per la città»); in inglese, all'inizio della frase, after vuole qualcosa dopo di sé: after that.

Pronuncia

3 min

see /siː/ → saw /sɔː/ know /nəʊ/ → knew /njuː/
take /teɪk/ → took /tʊk/ give /ɡɪv/ → gave /ɡeɪv/
buy /baɪ/ → bought /bɔːt/ think /θɪŋk/ → thought /θɔːt/
