(At ten I was flying), (At ten I'll be flying)입니다.

형태: will be + -ing가 붙은 동사. will과 be는 모든 인칭에서 같고, 바뀌는 것은 본동사뿐입니다.

I'll be working all day tomorrow.
She won't be coming to the meeting. (won't = will not)
Will you be using the car tonight?
Yes, I will. / No, I won't.

짧은 대답에서는 be와 -ing를 되풀이하지 않습니다: will이나 won't만 씁니다. 부사 probably, still, definitely는 will과 be 사이에 들어갑니다: I'll probably be working late. I probably won't be working on Friday.

그 순간은 보통 분명히 말합니다: at ten tomorrow, this time tomorrow('내일 이맘때'), this time next week, all day on Saturday. Don't call at six — I'll be driving. I'll be working all day on Saturday — 토요일 하루가 통째로 일에 들어갑니다.

Will you be using the printer this afternoon? Will you use the printer? Will you be paying by card? Will you be using the car tonight? If not, could I borrow it?

I won't come to the meeting — '안 갈 거예요', 거절처럼 들립니다: 가고 싶지 않다. I won't be coming to the meeting — 차분한 알림입니다: 일이 그렇게 되었다.

At eight we'll have dinner. 8
At eight we'll be having dinner. 8

I'm meeting Anna at six — 약속된 일정(B1 5과): 만남이 정해져 있습니다. At half past six I'll be sitting in a café with Anna — 그 순간의 그림: 내가 무엇을 하고 있을지.

상태동사(B1 4과)는 미래진행형이 되지 않습니다. know, like, want, '가지다'라는 뜻의 have에는 단순한 will을 씁니다: This time next year I'll know much more.

This time tomorrow I'll be sitting in an exam.
We'll be living in Leeds this time next year.
Will you be staying for dinner?
I won't be working on Friday.

✗ Will you be come tomorrow? → ✓ Will you be coming tomorrow? be

I won't come과 I won't be coming은 무엇이 다릅니까? 왜 I'll be knowing the results tomorrow라고 할 수 없습니까?

At nine tomorrow I'll be driving to work (또는 travelling to work); 앞의 것은 거절처럼 들리고, 뒤의 것은 일이 어떻게 될지 차분하게 알리는 말로 들립니다; know는 상태동사이므로 I'll know the results tomorrow라고 해야 합니다.

Don't call at six — I'll drive는 영어로 '그럼 내가 운전할게'라는 결정처럼 들립니다. '6시에는 운전하고 있을 거야'라고 하려면 ✓ Don't call at six — I'll be driving.

2

be를 빠뜨림

✗ I'll flying to London at ten

✓ I'll be flying to London at ten

✗ This time next week I'll be knowing my results

✓ This time next week I'll know my results

4

계획을 단순한 Will you…?

Will you use the car tonight? 중립적인 질문은 ✓ Will you be using the car tonight?

I'll be working /aɪl bi ˈwɜːkɪŋ/.

의문문 Will you be…? Will you be using the car? /wɪl jə bi ˈjuːzɪŋ ðə ˈkɑː/.

Are you around next week? I need to ask you a favour.

Not really, I'm afraid. I'll be travelling most of the week. I'm flying to Edinburgh on Monday for a conference.

Oh. Will you be using your car next week?

No, it'll be sitting in the garage all week. I'll be taking the train to the airport. Do you want to borrow it?

That would be amazing. My parents are visiting, and I'd like to take them to the coast.

Of course. Just don't phone me on Tuesday morning — I'll be giving my talk at ten.

Good luck! Will you be staying in a hotel?

Yes, near the conference centre. In the evenings I'll probably be working on my slides, but on Thursday we're having dinner in the castle.

Sounds lovely. And how do I get the car keys?

My sister has a spare set. Call her this evening, but not at seven — she'll be swimming then.

And what time does your flight land on Friday?

At six. So at eight I'll be sitting at home with a takeaway, and you'll be telling me all about the coast.
