afirmación I'll be working all day tomorrow.
negación She won't be coming to the meeting. (won't = will not)
pregunta Will you be using the car tonight?
respuesta corta Yes, I will. / No, I won't.

En la respuesta corta be y -ing no se repiten: solo will o won't. Los adverbios probably, still, definitely van entre will y be: I'll probably be working late.

El momento suele decirse abiertamente: at ten tomorrow, this time tomorrow («mañana a esta hora»), this time next week, all day on Saturday. Don't call at six — I'll be driving.

Will you be using the printer this afternoon? Will you be paying by card? No pregunta «¿qué vas a decidir?», sino «¿qué vas a estar haciendo?». Will you be using the car tonight? If not, could I borrow it?

El mismo matiz tiene la negación. I won't come to the meeting: «no voy a ir», parece una negativa: no quiero. I won't be coming to the meeting: un aviso tranquilo: así me van las cosas.

At eight we'll have dinner.
At eight we'll be having dinner.

I'm meeting Anna at six: algo acordado (B1 #5): la cita está fijada. At half past six I'll be sitting in a café with Anna: la imagen de ese momento: qué estaré haciendo.

Con know, like, want, have en el sentido de «tener», el will simple: This time next year I'll know much more.

Más ejemplos:

This time tomorrow I'll be sitting in an exam.
We'll be living in Leeds this time next year.
Will you be staying for dinner? ¿Te quedas a cenar? — con cortesía, sobre los planes
I won't be working on Friday. El viernes no trabajo.

Así no se dice. ✗ Will you be come tomorrow? → ✓ Will you be coming tomorrow?

Ponte a prueba. ¿En qué se diferencian I won't come y I won't be coming? ¿Por qué no se puede decir I'll be knowing the results tomorrow?

mostrar las respuestas
At nine tomorrow I'll be driving to work (o travelling to work); la primera suena a negativa, la segunda, a un aviso tranquilo de cómo van a ir las cosas; know es un verbo de estado, hace falta I'll know the results tomorrow.

Errores de los hispanohablantes

escrito para tu idioma
1

Falta be

✗ I'll flying to London at ten

✓ I'll be flying to London at ten

✗ Don't call at six — I drive home

✓ Don't call at six — I'll be driving home

3

Falta el sujeto

✗ At ten will be giving my talk → ✓ At ten I'll be giving my talk; ✗ No, will be sitting in the garage → ✓ No, it'll be sitting in the garage.

4

Preguntar por los planes en presente

✗ Do you use the car tonight?

✓ Will you be using the car tonight?

3 min

'll be se dice de un solo aliento: /l bi/. I'll be working /aɪl bi ˈwɜːkɪŋ/.

Will you be using the car?

Are you around next week? I need to ask you a favour.

Not really, I'm afraid. I'll be travelling most of the week. I'm flying to Edinburgh on Monday for a conference.

Oh. Will you be using your car next week?

No, it'll be sitting in the garage all week. I'll be taking the train to the airport. Do you want to borrow it?

That would be amazing. My parents are visiting, and I'd like to take them to the coast.

Of course. Just don't phone me on Tuesday morning — I'll be giving my talk at ten.

Good luck! Will you be staying in a hotel?

Yes, near the conference centre. In the evenings I'll probably be working on my slides, but on Thursday we're having dinner in the castle.

Sounds lovely. And how do I get the car keys?

My sister has a spare set. Call her this evening, but not at seven — she'll be swimming then.

And what time does your flight land on Friday?

At six. So at eight I'll be sitting at home with a takeaway, and you'll be telling me all about the coast.
