get + adjectiu vol dir «tornar-se», «posar-se»: get tired, get ready, get better, get angry, get lost.
make i do són dos verbs per a un sol «fer» català, i es reparteixen per llistes:

Errors dels parlants de català

«He fet un error», «faig una trucada» → ✗ I did a mistake, ✗ I do a call → ✓ I made a mistake, I make a call. En català «fer» serveix per a tot (un error, una trucada, els deures, un cafè); l'anglès el reparteix entre make i do, i la tria s'aprèn per la llista.
El pronom darrere del phrasal verb
«Apaga'l», «engega-la» → ✗ Turn off it → ✓ Turn it off. En català el pronom s'enganxa al final del verb; en anglès va entre les dues parts.
«Obre el llum»
✗ Open the light
✗ Close the light
✓ Turn on the light
Turn off the light. En català el llum s'obre i es tanca; en anglès open i close són per a portes i finestres, i el llum s'encén amb turn on o switch on.
Pronunciació
3 minEn un phrasal verb l'accent cau en la SEGONA part: turn on, log in, hang up, pick up.
Això el distingeix d'un verb normal amb preposició: a look at the picture l'accent és en la paraula amb significat, no en la preposició.
