He is at home — I can see him.
He must be at home — his car is outside.
may / might / could शायद हाँ He might be at the gym.
may not / might not शायद नहीं He might not be at home.
He can't be at work — it's Sunday.
He isn't here.

She must be tired, He might know। अगर अनुमान उसके बारे में है, जो ठीक अभी हो रहा है, — be + -ing: He must be working late — the light's on in his office. They might be waiting for us outside.

You must be hungry — you haven't eaten all day. He's at home — I've just spoken to him. must

It could be a virus.

That can't be Tom — he's in Spain this week.

निषेध — can't, mustn't नहीं। mustn't — मनाही (A2 का पाठ 10): You mustn't park here। She might not know about the meeting.

Could it be a mistake? Who can that be?

You must be tired.
You must go to bed.

maybe और may be। Maybe he's at home. may be — दो शब्द, मोडल क्रिया और be, कर्ता के बाद आता है: He may be at home.

That must be the postman.
She might be in a meeting.
This can't be our bus — ours is number twelve.
He must know the answer — he's a doctor.
You could be right.

✗ He mights be ill → ✓ He might be ill।

He must be at home या He might be at home? Maybe she's ill और She may be ill में क्या अंतर है?

He must be at home — सबूत मेल खाते हैं; That can't be true (या It can't be true); अर्थ में कोई नहीं: पहले में maybe — क्रियाविशेषण है, दूसरे में may be — be के साथ मोडल क्रिया।

1

“हो सकता है” — can be।

He can be at the gym पर अभी की किसी ठोस स्थिति के अनुमान में can नहीं लगता: वहाँ ✓ He might be at the gym / He could be at the gym। अनुमान में can केवल निषेध (can't) और प्रश्न (Who can that be?)

2

“नहीं होगा” — mustn't।

“वह ज़रूर घर पर होगा” = He must be at home, तो “वह घर पर नहीं होगा” He mustn't be at home लगता है। ✓ He can't be at home।

3

may be अलग लिखा हुआ।

✗ May be he's at home → ✓ Maybe he's at home; ✗ He maybe at home → ✓ He may be at home।

✗ She must to be tired

✓ She must be tired

। “होना” का “-ना” और have to, need to, want to की आदत to खींच लाते हैं। पर must, might, can't के बाद to नहीं आता।

He MUST be at home, That CAN'T be right, She MIGHT be ill।

must be — /ˈmʌs bi/: /s/ और /b/ के बीच /t/ ग़ायब हो जाता है। वैसे ही must know /ˈmʌs nəʊ/।

might be — /ˈmaɪt bi/: /t/ फूटता नहीं, बस स्वर को काट देता है।

Have you seen Tom this morning?

No, but he must be somewhere in the building. His coat's on his chair, and his computer is on.

And his coffee is still warm. He can't be far away.

He might be in the meeting room. The managers meet there on Thursdays.

It can't be the managers' meeting. That always starts at ten, and it's only half past nine.

Then he could be at the coffee machine. Or he may be down in IT — his laptop stopped working yesterday.

Wait, his phone's here too. He never goes anywhere without his phone. He must be very close.

Listen. Can you hear that? Somebody's singing in the kitchen.

That can't be Tom. He hates singing.

Hang on — isn't it his birthday today? Maybe they're singing to him.

Of course! That must be why there's a cake on the kitchen table. They must be waiting for us. Come on!
