will decizia din momentul vorbirii, promisiunea, oferta de ajutor, părerea despre viitor I'll help you with those bags.
be going to intenția hotărâtă dinainte; prognoza după ce se vede acum Look at those clouds — it's going to rain.
Present Continuous înțelegerea cu cineva: există ora, locul, alți oameni I'm meeting a client at four.
Present Simple orarul, programul, calendarul The train leaves at 7.40.
be about to pe punctul de a se întâmpla, peste un minut Hurry up — the film is about to start.

Ai hotărât chiar acum: The phone's ringing. I'll get it. Ai promis: I won't tell anyone. Ai presupus: I think it'll be cold tomorrow. Cu I think, probably, I'm sure stă aproape întotdeauna will.

be going to — decizia e deja în minte: We're going to paint the kitchen this summer. Și prognoza care are o cauză vizibilă: She's going to be late — she's still at home.

The museum opens at ten. My course starts on Monday.

be about to — „gata-gata”, fără să se spună timpul: I'm about to leave — can I call you back?

Cum alegi în câteva secunde. Pune-ți întrebările în ordine. Există un orar sau un program? — Present Simple. — Present Continuous. Ai hotărât dinainte sau vezi semne? — going to. Hotărăști chiar acum, promiți sau doar presupui? — will. Se va întâmpla peste un minut? — be about to.

It'll rain tomorrow. — așa cred It's going to rain. — văd norii
I'll call Anna. — tocmai am hotărât I'm calling Anna at six. — ne-am înțeles
The train leaves at 7.40. — orarul The train is leaving! — pleacă chiar acum

going to sau Present Continuous. Ambele forme vorbesc despre ce s-a hotărât dinainte. Diferența e dacă te-ai înțeles cu cineva:

I'm going to see a doctor.
I'm seeing the doctor at ten. Sunt programat: ora e stabilită.

Cu verbele go și come, în loc de I'm going to go se spune de obicei simplu I'm going to Spain in May — așa e mai scurt, iar sensul e același.

will sau going to în predicție. will — o părere sau o cunoștință despre viitor: așa cred, așa se întâmplă de obicei. going to — o concluzie din ce se vede chiar acum:

Don't worry, you'll pass the exam. Cred în tine.
Careful! You're going to drop those plates. Văd cum alunecă.

Present Simple sau Present Continuous. Orarul nu depinde de noi, înțelegerea e a noastră: The match starts at three — așa scrie în program; We're watching the match at Tom's — așa ne-am înțeles.

I need a holiday. I know — I'll go to Spain! ← decizie chiar acum I'm going to spend a week in Spain in May. ← decizia există, biletul nu I'm flying to Malaga on the third of May. ← biletul e cumpărat The flight leaves at 6.15. ← orarul We're about to take off. ← peste un minut

Așa nu se spune. ✗ I'm about to leave tomorrow → ✓ I'm leaving tomorrow. be about to înseamnă „peste un minut”, iar lângă el nu se spune timpul.

Verifică-te. Ce spui — He'll fall sau He's going to fall? Ce formă trebuie în My flight ___ (leave) at 6.15? Prin ce se deosebesc I'm going to see a doctor și I'm seeing the doctor at ten?

arată răspunsurile
He's going to fall — prognoză după ce se vede acum; leaves — orarul; primul — ai hotărât să mergi, al doilea — ești deja programat.

Greșelile vorbitorilor de limba română

adaptat pentru limba ta
1

Oferta de ajutor la prezent

„Stai, te ajut!”, „Lasă, deschid eu” → ✗ Wait, I help you! → ✓ Wait, I'll help you!

2

Răspunsul scurt la prezent

„Vii la petrecere? — Da, vin.” → ✗ Will you come to my party? — Yes, I come. → ✓ Yes, I will.

3

Present Simple pentru planurile personale

Tomorrow I go to the dentist — așa se vorbește despre un rând din orar, de exemplu când îți citești săptămâna din agendă. Despre o programare personală se spune de obicei ✓ I'm going to the dentist tomorrow. „Mâine merg la dentist” e prezent despre viitor și pare să se traducă direct; dar Present Simple englezesc despre viitor sună ca un orar, nu ca planul tău.

4

will pentru o întâlnire stabilită

I will meet him at four nu e o greșeală, dar despre o întâlnire fixată dinainte nu se spune de obicei așa: sună ca o decizie luată chiar acum sau ca o promisiune. Pentru o înțelegere — ✓ I'm meeting him at four. „Mă voi întâlni” și „o să mă întâlnesc” nu deosebesc decizia de înțelegere, iar la școală viitorul se traduce de obicei cu will.

Pronunție

4 min

going to în vorbirea rapidă — /ˈɡənə/ (revenire la A1 #32): I'm going to call her sună /aɪm ˈɡənə ˈkɔːl hə/.

will în afirmație se reduce la /l/: I'll /aɪl/, we'll /wiːl/, it'll /ˈɪtl/. Accentuat și întreg e în răspunsul scurt: Yes, I will.

I won't go — „n-o să merg”, I want to go — „vreau să merg”. Dacă le confunzi, spui contrariul.

What are you doing on Friday?

I'm meeting a client at four — we arranged it last week. After that I'm free. The office closes early on Fridays.

Great. Emma and I are going to look at a flat on Saturday morning. Do you want to come? You're good at spotting problems.

I'd love to. What time?

The agent hasn't confirmed yet. She's going to send me the address this evening.

OK. I'll come if I'm not too tired. Text me the time later.

I will. And the forecast says it'll be sunny, so we're going to have lunch in the park afterwards.

Have you looked at the sky? Look at those clouds. It's going to rain any minute.

Then let's hurry. The last bus leaves at ten past six, and it's six o'clock now.

Wait — my phone's ringing. It's the agent. I think she's about to tell us the time.
