ลักษณะไหนอยู่กลุ่มไหน ที่ยากที่สุดคือแยกความเห็นออกจากข้อเท็จจริง ความเห็นคือสิ่งที่โต้แย้งได้: lovely, beautiful, ugly, comfortable, expensive, cheap, useful ข้อเท็จจริงคือสิ่งที่มองเห็น หรือวัดได้: ขนาด (big, tiny, long, tall) อายุ (old, new, young) รูปร่าง (round, square) สี ที่มาและวัสดุตอบคำถาม “มาจากไหน?” และ “ทำจากอะไร?”: Italian, Swiss, wooden, leather วัสดุ มักบอกด้วยคำนามธรรมดาที่ไม่มีคำลงท้ายใด ๆ: a stone house, a gold ring, a wool coat การใช้งานก็ เช่นกัน: a kitchen table, a sports bag คำนามแบบนี้อยู่ท้ายสุดเสมอ ติดกับคำหลัก: รวมกันแล้วฟังเกือบ เหมือนคำเดียว

a small black handbag
a beautiful old house
an expensive Swiss watch
a long wooden table
a nice new leather jacket

จุลภาคและ and คำคุณศัพท์บอกความเห็นสองคำคั่นด้วยจุลภาคได้: a lovely, comfortable sofa สีสองสี เชื่อมด้วย and: a black and white photo เมื่อคำคุณศัพท์อยู่หลังกริยา แยกจากคำนาม ระหว่างสองคำสุดท้าย ก็ต้องมี and: The bag is small and black.

I was bored. — ฉันเบื่อ The lecture was boring.
She's interested in art. The exhibition is interesting.
We were tired after the journey. The journey was tiring.
I was surprised by the price. The price was surprising.
He was confused. The instructions were confusing.
They were disappointed. The hotel was disappointing.

She's an interesting person — “เธอเป็นคนน่าสนใจ”

ถ้าประธานรู้สึกเอง — -ed: I was bored — ฉันเบื่อ ถ้าประธาน ทำให้คนอื่นรู้สึก — -ing: The film was boring — หนังทำให้เบื่อ ดังนั้นสิ่งของ สถานที่ เหตุการณ์ แทบจะ ใช้ -ing เสมอ: หนังหรือการเดินทางไม่มีความรู้สึก -ed ใช้กับคนและสัตว์: The dog looks bored.

I got bored after an hour. I feel tired. You look worried. หน้าคำนามใช้ได้ทั้งสองรูป: a tired child — “เด็กที่ เหนื่อย”, a tiring day — “วันที่ทำให้เหนื่อย”

I'm bored.
I'm boring.

ไม่พูดแบบนี้ ✗ I'm interesting in history → ✓ I'm interested in history คนเป็นผู้รู้สึกสนใจ จึง ต้องใช้รูป -ed; interesting จะบอกว่าตัวคุณเองน่าสนใจสำหรับคนอื่น และหลังคำนี้ไม่ใส่ in

เรียงให้ถูกลำดับ: jacket, leather, black, a ใน What a ___ day! ต้องใส่ tired หรือ tiring?

I was bored at the lecture / I was bored during the lecture; a black leather jacket; tiring —

1

I'm boring แทน I'm bored

I'm boring เป็นประโยคที่ถูก แต่แปลว่า “ฉันเป็นคนน่าเบื่อ” ถ้าจะ บอกว่า “ฉันเบื่อ” ต้องใช้ I'm bored คำว่า “เบื่อ” อยู่ใน “น่าเบื่อ” ด้วย และ boring มักเป็นคำที่เรียนมา ก่อน จึงหยิบมาใช้ก่อน เช่นเดียวกัน “ฉันสนใจ” — I'm interested ไม่ใช่ I'm interesting และ “ฉัน ตื่นเต้น” — I'm excited ไม่ใช่ I'm exciting จำไว้: ไม่มี “น่า” — มักเป็น -ed

2

✗ a leather black jacket → ✓ a black leather jacket ✗ a wooden small house → ✓ a small wooden house

3

-ed กับสิ่งของ

✗ The journey was tired → ✓ The journey was tiring ✗ It was a tired day → ✓ It was a tiring day

Four stars out of five

I spent months looking for a kitchen table, and last week I finally found one on a second-hand website: a lovely old round wooden table, made in Scotland about seventy years ago. The price was surprisingly low, so at first I was a bit worried. But when it arrived, I wasn't disappointed at all. The wood is in excellent condition, and the four heavy legs are solid.

There was one problem. The legs come off for delivery, so I had to put them back on myself. The instructions were confusing — two pages of tiny drawings and no words — and after an hour I was tired and annoyed. I'm not very good at fixing things, so in the end I rang my brother. He has a big red toolbox, and he's always pleased to help. Ten minutes later the table was standing on its legs.

Now it stands in our small bright kitchen, and everyone who sees it asks where it's from. The seller was friendly and quick to answer questions. If you're interested in old furniture, I can recommend her shop. Just ask her for better instructions!

Last month I bought a small black leather bag from a second-hand shop. It was surprisingly cheap, and at first I was very pleased with it. After a week one of the straps broke, and I felt really disappointed. The shop assistant was friendly, but the repair was annoying and slow. I'm not so interested in second-hand shops now. Next time I'll buy a new bag.
