घोषित मूल समय। मूल ब्लॉकों में से दो में कोई आंकड़ा नहीं है, इसलिए वास्तविक पाठ इस योग से लंबा है।
व्याकरण
4 मिनटदेर से आने की सफ़ाई में आम तौर पर दो भूतकाल साथ आते हैं (पाठ 2): पृष्ठभूमि और घटना।

कारण और परिणाम — चार शब्द, और उनका क्रम अलग-अलग है:

because — पूरे वाक्य से पहले, because of — संज्ञा से पहले। ये दो अलग रचनाएँ हैं, और इन्हें आपस में मिलाना नहीं चाहिए।
रास्ते के बारे में बताते समय गति के पूर्वसर्ग (A1 का पाठ 22, एक बार फिर): get to work, walk across the park, drive past the station, go along the street।
हिन्दी भाषियों की गलतियाँ
आपकी भाषा के लिए लिखा गयाbecause और so एक साथ।
✗ Because the bus didn't come, so I was late. → ✓ Because the bus didn't come, I was late. या ✓ The bus didn't come, so I was late. A1 के पाठ 11 वाली गलती, अब देर की सफ़ाई में: हिन्दी में “क्योंकि बस नहीं आई, इसलिए देर हो गई” — दोनों शब्द जोड़ी में आते हैं। अंग्रेज़ी में एक वाक्य में एक ही: कारण के साथ because या परिणाम के साथ so।

“मुझे देर हो गई” का यह शब्दशः अनुवाद भारत की अंग्रेज़ी में बहुत आम है, पर ब्रिटेन में get late इस अर्थ में नहीं कहते। पहुँच गए, पर देर से — I'm late; बीती बात के बारे में — I was late।
अवधि के साथ since।
✗ I was waiting for the bus since twenty minutes.
✓ I was waiting for the bus for twenty minutes.
पाठ 5 वाली गलती: “बीस मिनट से” का “से” since बन जाता है। कितनी देर — for; since केवल उस पल के साथ, जब कुछ शुरू हुआ।
उच्चारण
3 मिनटशब्दों की सीमा पर व्यंजन अगले शब्द से जुड़ जाते हैं, और वाक्यांश एक लंबे शब्द जैसा सुनाई देता है:
