Present Perfect Past Simple
olumlu cümle I've lost my keys. I lost my keys.
olumsuz cümle She hasn't called. She didn't call.
soru Have you seen it? Did you see it?

Sonuç şu anda görülüyor: I've lost my keys — anahtarlar yok, içeri giremiyorum. Karşılaştırın: I lost my keys last week, but I found them — olay kapanmış, sonuç yok.

Haber.

Have you heard? They've closed the bridge. ← haber

Really? When did they close it? ← ayrıntılar

On Monday. They found a crack in it.

Dönem henüz bitmedi: I've had three coffees today. Dönem bittiyse Past Simple gerekir: I had three coffees yesterday. this morning de aynı şekilde ikiye ayrılır: sabah saat onda — I've drunk two coffees this morning, akşam — I drank two coffees this morning.

She has written four novels. Hayatı bitmiş biri için — Past Simple: Dickens wrote fifteen novels.

Zaman belirteçleri yardım eder, ama her şeyi belirlemez:

genellikle Present Perfect ile yalnızca Past Simple ile
just, already, yet, ever, so far, lately, since Monday yesterday, ago, last week, in May, when I was a child, the other day

never, recently, today, this week iki zamanla da kullanılır, ve karar yine aynıdır: dönem bitti mi? I've never been to Wales — hayat sürüyor; I never saw him again — hikâye sonuna kadar anlatılmış.

İngiliz ve Amerikan İngilizcesi. Amerikan İngilizcesinde just, already, yet ile çoğu zaman Past Simple kullanılır: Did you eat yet?, I just saw him. Bu hata değildir, ama öğrendiğimiz İngiliz İngilizcesinde Have you eaten yet? ve I've just seen him denir.

Karşılaştırın:

I've lost my keys. Sorun şu anda: anahtarlar yok.
I lost my keys. Bir hikâye: bir zaman kaybetmiştim, nasıl olduğunu şimdi anlatacağım.

Karşınızdakinin seçimini nasıl anlarsınız. Fiilin zamanı, kişinin sizden ne beklediğini ele verir. I've lost my keys dediyse bir sorunu bildiriyor ve büyük olasılıkla yardım ya da anlayış bekliyor. I lost my keys dediyse bir hikâyeye başlıyor, ayrıntılar arkadan gelecek. Have you seen Tom? sorusu “ona şimdi ihtiyacım var” demektir, Did you see Tom? ise belli bir olayla ilgilidir, örneğin dünkü partiyle.

Böyle söylenmez. ✗ I've been in London last year → ✓ I was in London last year. last year dönemi kapatır ve onunla Present Perfect kullanılamaz, yolculuk sizin deneyiminiz olsa bile. Zamansız deneyim için — I've been to London (A2 #4).

Kendinizi sınayın. Gözlüğünüzü arıyorsunuz ve arkadaşınıza söylüyorsunuz — I lost my glasses mı, I've lost my glasses mı? When did you buy it? sorusunda neden Present Perfect olamaz? Akşam oldu, bu sabahı anlatıyorsunuz: I've had mı, I had two coffees this morning mı?

cevapları göster
I've lost my glasses — sonuç şu anda, gözlük yok (I lost böyle bir durumda Amerikan İngilizcesinde söylenir); when zamanı sorar, zaman da Past Simple ister; I had — sabah bitti.

Türkçe konuşanların hataları

diliniz için yazıldı
1

“Ne zaman …-mışlar?”

✗ When have they closed the bridge?

✓ When did they close the bridge?

Haber Türkçede çoğu zaman “-miş” ile gelir (“Köprüyü kapatmışlar!”), soru da aynı ekle sorulur: “Ne zaman kapatmışlar?” Haber için They've closed the bridge doğrudur; ama when belli bir zamanı sorar, belli zaman da Present Perfect ile kullanılmaz.

2

Hayatı bitmiş biri için “-miş”

✗ Dickens has written fifteen novels

✓ Dickens wrote fifteen novels

Türkçede “Dickens on beş roman yazmış” denebilir ve bu “-miş” has written kalıbını çağırır (A2 #20). Ama yazarın hayatı bitmiştir: yalnızca Past Simple.

3

since ile Past Simple

✗ I didn't see him since Monday

✓ I haven't seen him since Monday

4

Telaffuz

3 dk

Konuşmada bütün fark kısa, vurgusuz bir sestir: I've'da /v/, she's, it's'te /z/ ya da /s/.

I've lost it. /aɪv ˈlɒst ɪt/
I lost it. /aɪ ˈlɒst ɪt/

Hızlı konuşmada ünsüzden önce /v/ neredeyse kaybolur, ama /f/'ye dönüşmez — titreşimli kalır.

's — has mı, is mi? Sonraki kelimeye bakın. She's broken her arm — 's'ten sonra üçüncü biçim var, demek ki has. She's tired — sıfat, demek ki is. What's happened? /wɒts ˈhæpənd/ — has.

Metin

5 dk

You look worried. What's happened?

I've lost my wallet. I've looked everywhere — in my bag, in my coat, in the car — and I can't find it.

Oh no. When did you last have it?

This morning. I paid for a coffee at the station at about half past eight. Then I went to the library and spent two hours there.

Did you take it out in the library?

I don't think so. I bought a sandwich on the way back, but I paid with my phone.

Have you called the library?

Not yet. I've only just got back.

Well, call them now. And have you cancelled your bank card?

Yes, I've already done that. I did it on the bus.

Good. Has anyone tried to use it?

No, nothing has happened so far. I checked the app ten minutes ago.

Then don't panic. Someone has probably found it already.
