标注的核心时长。核心模块中有两项未标注时长，因此实际课时比总和更长。
语法
15 分钟在 A2 第27课里，条件是现实的：If it rains, I'll stay at home——下雨完全有可能。可是我们常常说起并不存在的事：“要是我有时间就好了”“如果我住在海边……”。为此英语有第二条件句。
形式：if + 过去时，主句用 would + 动词原形。
| 肯定句 | If I had more time, I'd learn Italian. |

| 简短回答 | Yes, I would. / No, I wouldn't. |
'd 是 would 的缩写，和 I'd like 里的一样（A2 第17课）。两部分可以调换位置： I'd learn Italian if I had more time。只有 if 部分在前面时才需要逗号。 would 也可以换成 could——“就能”：If I had a car, I could drive to work.
过去时在这里不表示过去。 If I had more time 说的是今天。过去的形式把事情从现实推远—— 和礼貌的 Could you…? 一样（A2 第17课）。汉语动词没有时态，“如果我有时间”本身看不出说的是真是假，要靠上下文来判断；英语则用形式本身来表明：if 后面“退一步”用过去时，说的就是不现实的事。中国的语法书常把这种句子归入“虚拟语气”（与现在事实相反的假设）。
什么时候用。
说现在并不存在的事：If I lived by the sea, I'd swim every day. 我并不住在海边。
说不太可能或者想象出来的将来：What would you do if you won a million pounds? 中大奖几乎不可能，所以用第二条件句。
提建议：If I were you, I'd…——下面细说。
比较第一条件句和第二条件句。 区别不在“如果”，而在说话的人有多相信这个条件：

| If I got the job, I'd move to Bristol. | 机会不大：我几乎不抱希望。 |
情况是同一个，选用哪一类条件句，表明了你怎样看待它。
所有人称都用 were。 在 if 后面，be 有一个特别的形式——were，连 I、he、she 也用：If I were rich…，If she were here… 口语里也常说 If I was rich——这也对，只是更随便，不那么书面。
提建议：If I were you, I'd…——“如果我是你，我会……”。这里英语母语者几乎总是说 were：If I were you, I'd talk to your manager. I wouldn't buy that car if I were you. 这样的建议比 You should…（A2 第11课）更委婉：你不是在教别人怎么做，而是把自己放在对方的位置上。前一半常常省略：I'd talk to your manager——“如果我是你”不说也听得出来。
没有 if 的 would。 当条件从谈话中就能明白，或者根本没有条件时，主句也可以单独使用： It would be nice to have a garden.——“要是有个花园就好了”。I'd never do that.—— “我绝不会那样做”。Which city would you like to live in? 这是同样的不现实，只是没有把“如果” 说出来。所以在幻想、评价和礼貌的问句里，常常能听到 would。
更多例句：

不能这样说。 ✗ If I had more time, I will learn Italian → ✓ If I had more time, I'd learn Italian。条件不现实，主句也就不现实：will 和它不相配。
自我检测。 If I had a car, I'd drive to work 是什么意思：有车还是没车？ “如果我是你，我就不担心了”英语怎么说？赢的机会几乎为零——If I ___ (win), I ___ (buy) a house 怎么填？

中文母语者的常见错误
已针对你的语言编写if 后面用现在时。
✗ If I have more time, I would learn Italian
✓ If I had more time, I would learn Italian
。汉语动词没有时态，“如果我有更多时间”说现实和说不现实都是同一个形式，所以 if 后面很自然地用了现在时。可是英语里 if + 现在时是第一条件句，说的是现实的可能，不能和 would 搭配。
主句用 will。
✗ If I had more time, I will learn Italian
✓ If I had more time, I'd learn Italian
。“我就会学”里的“会”最先让人想到 will。可是条件不现实，主句也不现实，要用 would。
“如果我是你”逐字翻译。
✗ If I am you, I will talk to him
✓ If I were you, I'd talk to him
。汉语“我是你”里的“是”没有时态，于是写成了 am，后面再跟 will。可是“我是你”根本不可能，这正是第二条件句：were + would。把 If I were you 当作一个固定说法来记。
发音
4 分钟肯定句里的 would 缩成 /d/： I'd learn /aɪd ˈlɜːn/。听起来它和 I learn 只差一个音，所以要借助旁边的 if 和过去时：有了它们，后面就会是 would。
完整的 would 读作 /wʊd/，和 good 押韵，字母 l 不发音。 它在简短回答里才读完整并重读： Yes, I would。在疑问句里和名词后面，不重读时是弱读形式 /wəd/：What would you do? /ˈwɒt wəd ju ˈduː/。wouldn't 读作 /ˈwʊdnt/，/d/ 和 /n/ 之间没有元音。
If I were you 里的 were 不重读，读作 /wə/： /ɪf aɪ wə ˈjuː/。重音落在 you 上，建议的末尾语调下降：这样听起来友好而有把握。

5 分钟This week we asked our readers: what would you do if you didn't have to work for a year?
Megan, a nurse from Cardiff: "I'd learn Italian properly. I'd find a small flat in Bologna, and I wouldn't speak a word of English for twelve months. If I lived there, I'd go to the market every morning and cook real Italian food. It would be a big adventure."
Dev, a taxi driver from Leeds: "Honestly? I'd sleep for a week first. Then I'd walk round the whole coast of Wales. It's about 870 miles, so if I walked twenty miles a day, I could finish it in about six weeks."
Lucy, a student from Belfast: "I wouldn't travel — everybody says that. I'd make my own computer game. I already have the idea. If I had more time, I'd finish it in a few months."
One reader sent us a different question: "My job is boring, but it's safe. Should I leave?" Our advice: if we were you, we wouldn't leave without a plan. We'd start an evening course first. If you enjoyed it, you could change jobs next year.
