表达遗憾和愿望
能说出我对现在的情况感到遗憾，也能抱怨别人的行为。
标注的核心时长。核心模块中有两项未标注时长，因此实际课时比总和更长。
语法
15 分钟在第8课里，if 后面的过去时让句子离开了现实：If I had more time…——其实没有时间。 I wish 也是这样构成的。英语用它来表达“可惜……”或者“真希望……”。
形式：I wish + 主语 + 过去时。 动词用过去时，说的却是今天。

关键：肯定和否定颠倒过来。 看看表格：现实里是“没有”的，遗憾的句子里就是“有”，反过来也一样。 I wish I had a car——“可惜我没有车”。I wish I didn't have to work——“可惜我得工作”。汉语的“可惜……”说的是现实（可惜没有），英语的 wish 句说的却是希望的样子（希望有）。所以从 “可惜”“遗憾”这样的句子翻译时，否定词会消失或者出现。汉语的另一种说法“要是我有车就好了” 倒是和英语一样，说的是希望的样子。
为什么用过去时。 I wish I had a car 其实就是第8课条件句的前一半，没有后一半：“要是我有车……”。过去的形式在这里同样表示“现实中并非如此”。如果你已经掌握了 If I had…，那么 I wish I had… 的构成完全一样；两者也常常连着说：I wish I had a car. If I had a car, I'd drive to work.
be 可以用 were，所有人称都一样，和 If I were you 里一样；口语里也用 was。能力用 could 表达：I wish I could drive. 义务用 didn't have to，因为 must 没有过去式（A2 第10课）。
If only——意思一样，但语气更强，几乎是一声感叹：If only I had more time!——“要是我有时间就好了！”
I wish + would——希望有所改变。 用来说让人恼火的别人的行为，以及我们左右不了的事情： I wish you would stop interrupting me.——“你别再打断我了”——带着责备。 I wish it would stop raining.——“但愿雨快点停”。 would 看的是将来：对方可能会改变做法。说自己时不这样说：自己的行为自己就能改，用不着 wish。不说 ✗ I wish I would…，而说 I wish I could… 或者 I wish I had…。
比较：

wish 还是 hope。 hope 说的是完全可能发生的事，后面用普通的时态： I hope you get the job. I hope it doesn't rain tomorrow. wish 说的是现实中没有的事：I wish I had a job. 汉语的“希望”两种意思都能表达，英语却要分开。wish 还有第三种意思——和名词连用表示祝愿，不用过去时：I wish you luck，We wish you a happy New Year。
说过去（“可惜我当时没有……”）时，wish 的构成不同，这种形式以后再学。本课只说现在。

不能这样说。 ✗ I wish I didn't must work on Saturdays → ✓ I wish I didn't have to work on Saturdays。must 没有过去式，所以 wish 后面要用 have to。
自我检测。 I wish I lived in the country 是什么意思：这个人住在乡下还是不住在乡下？ “可惜我不会说德语”英语怎么说？“希望明天是晴天”用 wish 还是 hope？

中文母语者的常见错误
已针对你的语言编写wish 后面用现在时。
✗ I wish I have more time → ✓ I wish I had more time； ✗ I wish I can drive → ✓ I wish I could drive。“真希望我有更多时间”“真希望我会开车”里动词没有变化，英语的动词也就留在了现在时。可是 wish 后面要退一步用过去时，和第8课 if 后面一样。
“希望”一律译成 wish。
✗ I wish you can come to my party → ✓ I hope you can come to my party；✗ I wish you will pass the exam → ✓ I hope you pass the exam。汉语的“希望”既能说可能实现的事，也能说不现实的事。英语里可能实现的事用 hope，后面接普通的时态；wish 只说现实中没有的事，后面不接 will 和 can。
把“会”译成 would。
✗ I wish I would speak Italian
✓ I wish I spoke Italian / I wish I could speak Italian
。“真希望我会说意大利语”里的“会”表示能力，可“会”又常常对应 will、would，于是 would 就跑到了 wish 后面。说自己的能力用 could；I wish … would 只用来说别人的行为或者天气。
发音
4 分钟遗憾要用先降后升的语调（fall-rise），和礼貌的投诉一样（A2 第25课）：

语调在重读的 time 上下降，句末再稍稍上扬：“要是……就好了”。一降到底，听起来就像干巴巴地陈述事实。
wish 读作 /wɪʃ/： 元音是短的 /ɪ/，不要拉长成 /iː/；结尾的 /ʃ/ 双唇稍稍向前突出，不要读成汉语拼音的 x。在 I wish I 里，/ʃ/ 和后面的 I 连在一起：/aɪ ˈwɪʃ aɪ/，中间不停顿。
If only 的重音在 only 上：/ɪf ˈəʊnli/。 only 的第一个音是双元音 /əʊ/，和 go 里的一样：从 /ə/ 滑向 /ʊ/。
课文
5 分钟I love my flat, but some days I wish I lived somewhere else. It's right in the centre of town, so everything is close. The problem is that it's tiny. I wish I had a proper kitchen — at the moment I cook on a small hob next to the sofa. And I wish the walls weren't so thin.
My neighbour upstairs is a nice young man, but he plays the drums. Every evening at ten, the concert starts. I wish he would practise in the afternoons instead. I've asked him twice, and he always says sorry, but nothing changes.
I also wish I could drive. If I had a car, I'd visit my parents more often. They live in a village in Yorkshire, and the trains there are slow and expensive. If only the buses were better!
Still, I'm not going to move. I like the cafés, the park and the noise of the street. I just hope my neighbour finds a new hobby soon. Maybe I'll buy him a guitar — a quiet one.
