A2 27과에서 조건문의 규칙을 배웠습니다: 미래에 관한 if 뒤에는 현재 시제를 씁니다 — If it rains, I'll stay at home이고, ✗ If it will rain이 아닙니다.

시간의 접속사도 똑같습니다. when, as soon as, until, before, after, by the time이 이끄는 부분은 무언가가 어느 순간에 일어나는지를 말하고, 그 안에는 미래 시제가 없습니다. 한국어도 같습니다: '도착하면 전화할게' — I'll call you when I get there.

주절에는 will, going to, 명령문 또는 조동사. Present Simple.

when ~할 때, ~하면 I'll call you when I get home.
as soon as ~하자마자 We'll start as soon as everyone arrives.
Once you pay, you'll get an email with the tickets.
until / till ~할 때까지 Wait here until I come back.
before ~하기 전에 Switch off the lights before you leave.
after ~한 후에 I'll ring you after the meeting finishes.
while ~하는 동안 I'll make dinner while you're having a shower.
by the time ~할 때쯤이면, ~할 때까지는 By the time you arrive, the food will be ready.

I won't leave until you get back. What will you do when you finish university? Will you call me as soon as you hear something?

When I get home, I'll call you. I'll call you when I get home.

I'll send you the report when I've finished it. As soon as I've read the book, I'll give it back. when, after, as soon as, once, until

  • 약속하고 다짐할 때: I'll text you as soon as I land. — '착륙하자마자 문자할게';
  • 지시할 때: Don't open the door until the light goes green. — '초록불이 켜질 때까지 문을 열지 마십시오';
After we've had lunch, we'll go to the museum.

Wait until I come back. I won't pay until I see the car. By the time you arrive, the food will be ready.

I'll call you when I see her.
I'll call you if I see her.
When will you be back?
I don't know when he'll be back.
I'll call you when he gets back.

숫자와 함께 쓰면 간격이 됩니다: every two weeks — '2주에 한 번', every three hours — '세 시간마다'. A1에서 배운 once a week, twice a month와 함께, 빈도를 말하는 두 가지 방법입니다: once a week — 일정한 기간에 몇 번인지, every two weeks — 한 번과 다음 번 사이의 간격이 얼마인지.

every time과 whenever — '~할 때마다'. Every time I see him, he's on the phone. Whenever you're in Leeds, come and see us. — 미래에 관한 이야기지만 you're이고, ✗ you'll be가 아닙니다.

every와 each. Every room has a TV. Each room has a TV.

Every student passed the exam.
The teacher spoke to each student.

She had a bag in each hand. every는 셋 이상에만 씁니다.
  • each는 혼자서도, of와 함께도 씁니다: each of us, each of the rooms, We each got a copy. every는 그렇게 못 합니다: ✗ every of us → ✓ each of us 또는 every one of us.
  • almost, nearly, not과는 every만 어울립니다: almost every day, Not every hotel has a lift.

I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything.
We won't start until everyone is here.
Before you go, could you close the window?
By the time you get there, the shop will be closed.
I'll read the news while you're driving.
The bus comes every twenty minutes.
Each of the rooms has its own bathroom.
Each of you will get a copy when the meeting starts.

✗ every days → ✓ every day.

I don't know when she'll arrive에는 왜 will이 있습니까? each와 every 중 무엇: She wore a ring on ___ hand?

Call me as soon as you arrive 또는 Call me as soon as you get there; 여기서 when은 시간의 접속사가 아니라 간접 의문문의 의문사입니다; each — 손은 둘뿐입니다.

1

접속사 뒤의 will

✗ I'll call you when I will get home → ✓ I'll call you when I get home. 하지만 한국어 '집에 가면'에도 미래 표지는 없습니다. as soon as, until, before, after에서도 같습니다: ✗ as soon as I will know → ✓ as soon as I know.

2

'-면'을 늘 if로

I'll call you if I get home이라고 하면 집에 못 갈 수도 있다는 말로 들립니다. 꼭 일어날 일이면 ✓ I'll call you when I get home.

3

'까지'를 늘 until로

✗ I'll finish the email until you come back

✓ I'll finish the email by the time you come back / before you come back

4

every를 '모든'처럼

✗ every days

✗ every of us

✓ every day

each of us. '모든'으로 생각하면 all of us처럼 복수나 of를 붙이게 됩니다. every 뒤에는 단수가 오고 of는 오지 않습니다.

I'll call you when I get home. /aɪl ˈkɔːl jə wen aɪ ɡet ˈhəʊm/ — when은 약하게
as soon as I know /əz ˈsuːn əz aɪ ˈnəʊ/ — 두 as 모두 /əz/
until I come back /ənˈtɪl aɪ kʌm ˈbæk/ — until I는 한 덩어리로

When I get home ↗, I'll call you ↘.

each와 every: each /iːtʃ/ — 긴 /iː/로; itch /ɪtʃ/ '가렵다'와 헷갈리지 마십시오.

Hi Sam,

Here's the plan for Friday. I'll get to the venue at eight, and I'll text you as soon as I arrive. Please don't let anyone in until I've checked the room — the projector didn't work last time.

When the participants arrive, each of them will get a badge and a printed programme. Every badge has a name and a group number on it. There are forty people, so we'll need two tables: one for groups one to three and the other for groups four and five.

The first session starts at half past nine. Before it begins, could you check that every chair has a pen and a feedback form? While I'm giving the introduction, you can look after the late arrivals.

We'll have a short break every hour and a half. After lunch, the groups will swap rooms, so some people will stay where they are and others will move upstairs.

By the time we finish, everyone will be tired, so let's keep the closing short. I'll send you the photos once I get home.

One other thing: could you bring another extension lead? We never have enough. If you have any questions, call me — I'll be in the office until six on Thursday.

Thanks! Jo
