Tempo declarado do núcleo.
18 minNa lição A2 #27 você aprendeu a regra das orações condicionais: depois de if que fala do futuro vem o presente — If it rains, I'll stay at home, e não ✗ If it will rain.
A parte com when, as soon as, until, before, after, by the time diz em que momento algo vai acontecer, e nela não há futuro. I'll call you when I get there.
A forma. Na parte principal — will, going to, o imperativo ou um verbo modal. Na parte com a conjunção — Present Simple.
| conjunção | significado | exemplo |
|---|---|---|
| when | quando | I'll call you when I get home. |
| as soon as | assim que, logo que | We'll start as soon as everyone arrives. |
| once | assim que, depois que | Once you pay, you'll get an email with the tickets. |
| until / till | até, até que | Wait here until I come back. |
| before | antes de, antes que | Switch off the lights before you leave. |
| after | depois de, depois que | I'll ring you after the meeting finishes. |
| while | enquanto | I'll make dinner while you're having a shower. |
| by the time | quando (já), no momento em que | By the time you arrive, the food will be ready. |
I won't leave until you get back. What will you do when you finish university? Will you call me as soon as you hear something?
When I get home, I'll call you. Se vem em segundo lugar, não há vírgula: I'll call you when I get home.
I'll send you the report when I've finished it. As soon as I've read the book, I'll give it back.
- combinar e prometer: I'll text you as soon as I land. — “Te mando mensagem assim que eu pousar”;
- dar uma instrução: Don't open the door until the light goes green. — “Não abra até a luz ficar verde”;
- montar um plano passo a passo: After we've had lunch, we'll go to the museum.
I won't pay until I see the car.
| I'll call you when I see her. |
| I'll call you if I see her. | Talvez eu a veja, talvez não. |
| When will you be back? | Pergunta “quando?” — o futuro é necessário. |
| I don't know when he'll be back. | Pergunta indireta (B1 #19) — o futuro é necessário. |
| I'll call you when he gets back. | Conjunção de tempo — presente. |
every time e whenever — “toda vez que”. Every time I see him, he's on the phone. — sobre o que acontece sempre. Whenever you're in Leeds, come and see us. — sobre o futuro, mas you're, e não ✗ you'll be.
every e each. Each room has a TV.
The teacher spoke to each student. |
Eles se diferenciam também na forma:
- each serve também para dois: She had a bag in each hand. every — só para três ou mais.
- each aparece sozinho e com of: each of us, each of the rooms, We each got a copy. every não faz isso: ✗ every of us → ✓ each of us ou every one of us.
- Com almost, nearly, not só serve every: almost every day, Not every hotel has a lift.
Onde os dois são possíveis, a diferença quase não se nota: every time e each time querem dizer a mesma coisa.
Mais exemplos:
| I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything. |
| We won't start until everyone is here. | Não vamos começar até todo mundo chegar. |
| Before you go, could you close the window? |
| By the time you get there, the shop will be closed. |
| I'll read the news while you're driving. | Eu leio as notícias enquanto você dirige. |
| The bus comes every twenty minutes. | O ônibus passa a cada vinte minutos. |
| Each of the rooms has its own bathroom. | Cada quarto tem o seu próprio banheiro. |
| Each of you will get a copy when the meeting starts. |
Assim não se diz. ✗ every days → ✓ every day.
Por que em I don't know when she'll arrive vai will? each ou every: She wore a ring on ___ hand?

“Te ligo quando eu chegar em casa” → ✗ I'll call you when I will get home → ✓ I'll call you when I get home. I will know → ✓ as soon as I know.
“Até você chegar” com until
“Até você chegar, a comida vai estar pronta” → ✗ Until you arrive, the food will be ready → ✓ By the time you arrive, the food will be ready. É o “até” da lição B1 #2, agora no futuro: until é a duração (Wait here until I come back), e o momento em que algo já vai estar feito é by the time.
every com plural
“Todos os dias”, “todas as semanas” → ✗ every days, ✗ every weeks → ✓ every day, every week.
| I'll call you when I get home. | /aɪl ˈkɔːl jə wen aɪ ɡet ˈhəʊm/ — when fraco |
| as soon as I know | /əz ˈsuːn əz aɪ ˈnəʊ/ — os dois as soam /əz/ |
| until I come back | /ənˈtɪl aɪ kʌm ˈbæk/ — /ənˈtɪlaɪ/ num bloco só |
Se a parte com a conjunção vem primeiro, a voz sobe no fim dela — “a frase continua” —, e no fim da parte principal desce: When I get home ↗, I'll call you ↘.
each e every: each /iːtʃ/ — /iː/ longo, não confunda com itch /ɪtʃ/ — “coçar”. every /ˈevri/ — duas sílabas: o e do meio não se pronuncia.
Texto
5 minHi Sam,
Here's the plan for Friday. I'll get to the venue at eight, and I'll text you as soon as I arrive. Please don't let anyone in until I've checked the room — the projector didn't work last time.
When the participants arrive, each of them will get a badge and a printed programme. Every badge has a name and a group number on it. There are forty people, so we'll need two tables: one for groups one to three and the other for groups four and five.
The first session starts at half past nine. Before it begins, could you check that every chair has a pen and a feedback form? While I'm giving the introduction, you can look after the late arrivals.
We'll have a short break every hour and a half. After lunch, the groups will swap rooms, so some people will stay where they are and others will move upstairs.
By the time we finish, everyone will be tired, so let's keep the closing short. I'll send you the photos once I get home.
One other thing: could you bring another extension lead? We never have enough. If you have any questions, call me — I'll be in the office until six on Thursday.
Thanks! Jo
