ב־A2 #27 למדתם את הכלל של משפטי התנאי: אחרי if על העתיד בא זמן הווה — If it rains, I'll stay at home, ולא ✗ If it will rain.

החלק עם when, as soon as, until, before, after, by the time אומר באיזה רגע משהו יקרה, ואין בו זמן עתיד, אף שבעברית יש: "אתקשר כשאגיע" — I'll call you when I get there.

when כש־, כאשר I'll call you when I get home.
as soon as ברגע ש־, מיד כש־ We'll start as soon as everyone arrives.
Once you pay, you'll get an email with the tickets.
until / till עד ש־ Wait here until I come back.
before לפני ש־ Switch off the lights before you leave.
after אחרי ש־ I'll ring you after the meeting finishes.
I'll make dinner while you're having a shower.
by the time עד ש־ (עד הרגע ש־) By the time you arrive, the food will be ready.

I won't leave until you get back. What will you do when you finish university? Will you call me as soon as you hear something?

When I get home, I'll call you. I'll call you when I get home.

"כשאסיים" — Present Perfect. Present Perfect: I'll send you the report when I've finished it. As soon as I've read the book, I'll give it back. כך אומרים לרוב אחרי when, after, as soon as, once, until.

  • לקבוע ולהבטיח: I'll text you as soon as I land. — "אכתוב לך ברגע שאנחת";
  • לתת הוראה: Don't open the door until the light goes green. — "אל תפתחו עד שיידלק האור הירוק";
After we've had lunch, we'll go to the museum.

Wait until I come back. I won't pay until I see the car.

I'll call you when I see her.
I'll call you if I see her.
When will you be back?
I don't know when he'll be back.
I'll call you when he gets back.

באיזו תדירות: every. every + שם עצם ביחיד מציין קביעות: every day, every Monday, every summer. עם מספר יוצא מרווח: every two weeks — "כל שבועיים", every three hours — "כל שלוש שעות". יחד עם once a week, twice a month (A1) אלה שתי דרכים לדבר על תדירות: once a week — כמה פעמים בתקופה, every two weeks — מה המרווח בין הפעמים.

Every time I see him, he's on the phone. Whenever you're in Leeds, come and see us. — על העתיד, אבל you're, ולא ✗ you'll be.

every ו־each. Every room has a TV. Each room has a TV.

Every student passed the exam.
The teacher spoke to each student.

She had a bag in each hand. every — רק לשלושה ויותר.
  • each עומד גם לבד ועם of: each of us, each of the rooms, We each got a copy. every לא יכול: ✗ every of us → ✓ each of us או every one of us.
  • עם almost, nearly, not מתאים רק every: almost every day, Not every hotel has a lift.

היכן ששתיהן אפשריות, ההבדל כמעט לא מורגש: every time ו־each time פירושן אותו דבר.

I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything.
We won't start until everyone is here.
Before you go, could you close the window?
By the time you get there, the shop will be closed.
I'll read the news while you're driving.
The bus comes every twenty minutes.
Each of the rooms has its own bathroom.
Each of you will get a copy when the meeting starts.

✗ every days → ✓ every day.

I don't know when she'll arrive עומד will? each או every: She wore a ring on ___ hand?

Call me as soon as you arrive או Call me as soon as you get there; when כאן הוא מילת שאלה ("מתי") בשאלה עקיפה, ולא מילת חיבור של זמן; each — ידיים יש רק שתיים.

1

will אחרי when

✗ I'll call you when I will get home → ✓ I'll call you when I get home. זו השגיאה הנפוצה ביותר בשיעור, והיא אותה שגיאה עם as soon as, before, after ו־until: ✗ as soon as I will know → ✓ as soon as I know; ✗ I won't leave until you will get back → ✓ I won't leave until you get back.

2

until במקום by the time

✗ Until you arrive, the food will be ready

✓ By the time you arrive, the food will be ready

(Wait here until I come back), ו־by the time — שמשהו כבר יסתיים לפניו.

3

"כל" — תמיד every

✗ She had a bag in every hand → ✓ in each hand; ✗ every of us → ✓ each of us.

4

✗ I visit her once in two weeks

✓ I visit her every two weeks

את "פעם ב־" מתרגמים מילה במילה. once a week נכון, אבל כשיש מספר, אומרים every: every two weeks, every three days.

I'll call you when I get home. /aɪl ˈkɔːl jə wen aɪ ɡet ˈhəʊm/ — when חלש
as soon as I know /əz ˈsuːn əz aɪ ˈnəʊ/ — שני ה־as נשמעים /əz/
until I come back /ənˈtɪl aɪ kʌm ˈbæk/ — until I כמילה אחת

When I get home ↗, I'll call you ↘.

each ו־every: each /iːtʃ/ — /iː/ ארוך; לא לבלבל עם itch /ɪtʃ/ — "לגרד".

Hi Sam,

Here's the plan for Friday. I'll get to the venue at eight, and I'll text you as soon as I arrive. Please don't let anyone in until I've checked the room — the projector didn't work last time.

When the participants arrive, each of them will get a badge and a printed programme. Every badge has a name and a group number on it. There are forty people, so we'll need two tables: one for groups one to three and the other for groups four and five.

The first session starts at half past nine. Before it begins, could you check that every chair has a pen and a feedback form? While I'm giving the introduction, you can look after the late arrivals.

We'll have a short break every hour and a half. After lunch, the groups will swap rooms, so some people will stay where they are and others will move upstairs.

By the time we finish, everyone will be tired, so let's keep the closing short. I'll send you the photos once I get home.

One other thing: could you bring another extension lead? We never have enough. If you have any questions, call me — I'll be in the office until six on Thursday.

Thanks! Jo
