A2 #27 jūs apguvāt nosacījuma teikumu likumu: pēc if par nākotni liek tagadni — If it rains, I'll stay at home, nevis ✗ If it will rain. Nākotne jau ir nosaukta galvenajā daļā (I'll stay), bet daļa ar if tikai pasaka, pie kāda nosacījuma tā iestāsies.

Tieši tāpat darbojas laika saikļi. Daļa ar when, as soon as, until, before, after, by the time pasaka, kurā brīdī kaut kas notiks, un nākotnes laika tajā nav, lai gan latviski tas tur ir: „piezvanīšu, kad atbraukšu” — I'll call you when I get there.

Forma. Galvenajā daļā — will, going to, pavēles izteiksme vai modālais darbības vārds. Daļā ar saikli — Present Simple.

saiklis nozīme piemērs
when kad I'll call you when I get home.
as soon as tiklīdz We'll start as soon as everyone arrives.
once tiklīdz, kad jau Once you pay, you'll get an email with the tickets.
until / till kamēr (ne), līdz Wait here until I come back.
before pirms Switch off the lights before you leave.
after pēc tam, kad I'll ring you after the meeting finishes.
while kamēr, tajā laikā, kad I'll make dinner while you're having a shower.
by the time līdz brīdim, kad By the time you arrive, the food will be ready.

till — sarunvalodas until variants, nozīmē to pašu.

I won't leave until you get back. What will you do when you finish university? Will you call me as soon as you hear something?

Daļu secība ir brīva. Ja daļa ar saikli ir pirmā, pēc tās liek komatu: When I get home, I'll call you. Ja otrā — komata nav: I'll call you when I get home.

Ja ir svarīgi, ka viens darbs būs pilnībā pabeigts, pirms sāksies otrs, pēc saikļa liek Present Perfect: I'll send you the report when I've finished it. — „atsūtīšu, kad pabeigšu (visu, līdz galam)”. As soon as I've read the book, I'll give it back. Visbiežāk tā saka pēc when, after, as soon as, once, until.

  • vienoties un apsolīt: I'll text you as soon as I land. — „Uzrakstīšu, tiklīdz nolaidīšos”;
  • dot norādījumu: Don't open the door until the light goes green. — „Neatveriet, kamēr neiedegsies zaļā gaisma”;
  • izplānot pa soļiem: After we've had lunch, we'll go to the museum.

until — bez „ne”. Latviski pēc „kamēr” bieži ir noliegums, it īpaši tad, ja noliegta ir galvenā daļa: „neatveriet, kamēr neiedegsies zaļā”, „nemaksāšu, kamēr neredzēšu mašīnu”. Angliski until jau pats nozīmē „kamēr (vēl) ne”, „līdz”, un otra nolieguma pēc tā nav: Wait until I come back. Ja noliegums stāv galvenajā daļā, iznāk „ne agrāk, kā”: I won't pay until I see the car. — „Nemaksāšu, kamēr neredzēšu mašīnu”.

Salīdziniet ar if un ar jautājumu. when ir divi kaimiņi, un ar abiem to jauc:

I'll call you when I see her. Redzēšu viņu noteikti, jautājums ir tikai — kad.
I'll call you if I see her. Varbūt redzēšu, bet varbūt arī ne.
When will you be back? Jautājums „kad?” — nākotne vajadzīga.
I don't know when he'll be back. Netiešais jautājums (B1 #19) — nākotne vajadzīga.
I'll call you when he gets back. Laika saiklis — tagadne.

Cik bieži: every. every + lietvārds vienskaitlī nosauc regularitāti: every day, every Monday, every summer.

Every time I see him, he's on the phone. — par to, kas notiek vienmēr. Whenever you're in Leeds, come and see us. — par nākotni, bet you're, nevis ✗ you'll be.

every un each. Abi nozīmē „katrs”, abi stāv pirms lietvārda vienskaitlī, un arī darbības vārds pēc tiem ir vienskaitlī: Every room has a TV. Each room has a TV.

every — uz visu grupu uzreiz, „visi bez izņēmuma” Every student passed the exam.
each — uz katru atsevišķi, vienu pēc otra The teacher spoke to each student.

Tie atšķiras arī pēc formas:

  • each var būt arī par diviem: She had a bag in each hand. every — tikai par trim un vairāk.
  • each stāv arī patstāvīgi un ar of: each of us, each of the rooms, We each got a copy. every tā nevar: ✗ every of us → ✓ each of us vai every one of us.
  • Ar almost, nearly, not der tikai every: almost every day, Not every hotel has a lift.

Tur, kur der abi, atšķirību gandrīz nevar sadzirdēt: every time un each time nozīmē vienu un to pašu.

Vēl piemēri:

I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything. Paziņošu, tiklīdz kaut ko uzzināšu.
We won't start until everyone is here. Nesāksim, kamēr visi nebūs sanākuši.
Before you go, could you close the window? Pirms aiziešanas, lūdzu, aizver logu.
By the time you get there, the shop will be closed. Līdz tu tur nokļūsi, veikals jau būs slēgts.
I'll read the news while you're driving. Es palasīšu ziņas, kamēr tu vadīsi mašīnu.
The bus comes every twenty minutes. Autobuss kursē ik pēc divdesmit minūtēm.
Each of the rooms has its own bathroom. Katrā numurā ir sava vannas istaba.
Each of you will get a copy when the meeting starts. Katrs no jums saņems eksemplāru, kad sāksies sapulce.

Tā nesaka. ✗ every days → ✓ every day.

Kā pateikt „Piezvani man, tiklīdz atbrauksi”? Kāpēc teikumā I don't know when she'll arrive stāv will? each vai every: She wore a ring on ___ hand?

rādīt atbildes
Call me as soon as you arrive vai Call me as soon as you get there; when šeit ir jautājuma vārds netiešajā jautājumā, nevis laika saiklis; each — roku ir tikai divas.

Latviešu valodas runātāju kļūdas

pielāgots tavai valodai
1

will pēc when

✗ I'll call you when I will get home → ✓ I'll call you when I get home. Šī ir nodarbības biežākā kļūda, un ar as soon as, before, after tā ir tā pati: ✗ as soon as I will know → ✓ as soon as I know.

2

Viens „kamēr” — trīs kļūdas

✗ Wait here while I come back → ✓ Wait here until I come back: latviešu „kamēr” nozīmē gan while („tajā laikā, kad”), gan until („līdz”). Pēc „kamēr” latviski ir arī nākotne un bieži „ne-”: „neaizbrauksim, kamēr nebeigsies lietus” → ✗ We won't leave until the rain won't stop → ✓ We won't leave until the rain stops. until jau nozīmē „kamēr ne”; otrs noliegums un will pēc tā ir lieki.

3

Viens „katrs” diviem angļu vārdiem

✗ every of us → ✓ each of us; ✗ a ring on every hand → ✓ a ring on each hand. Latviešu „katrs” der visur — „katrs no mums”, „katrā rokā”, — tāpēc visur raksta every. Bet ar of un par diviem vajag each.

4

„Reizi divās nedēļās”

✗ She visits her parents once in two weeks

✓ every two weeks

Latviešu frāzi pārnes vārdu pa vārdam. Angliski once stāv ar periodu (once a week, once a month), bet intervālu nosauc every ar skaitli.

Izruna

4 min

I'll call you when I get home. /aɪl ˈkɔːl jə wen aɪ ɡet ˈhəʊm/ — when vājš
as soon as I know /əz ˈsuːn əz aɪ ˈnəʊ/ — abi as skan /əz/
until I come back /ənˈtɪl aɪ kʌm ˈbæk/ — /ənˈtɪlaɪ/ vienā gabalā

Beigu /l/ saplūst ar nākamā vārda patskani: until I skan vienā gabalā.

Divdaļīga teikuma intonācija. Ja daļa ar saikli ir pirmā, tās beigās balss paceļas — „turpinājums sekos”, — bet galvenās daļas beigās krīt: When I get home ↗, I'll call you ↘.

each un every: each /iːtʃ/ — garais /iː/, nejauciet ar itch /ɪtʃ/ — „niezēt”. every /ˈevri/ — divas zilbes: vidējo e neizrunā.

Hi Sam,

Here's the plan for Friday. I'll get to the venue at eight, and I'll text you as soon as I arrive. Please don't let anyone in until I've checked the room — the projector didn't work last time.

When the participants arrive, each of them will get a badge and a printed programme. Every badge has a name and a group number on it. There are forty people, so we'll need two tables: one for groups one to three and the other for groups four and five.

The first session starts at half past nine. Before it begins, could you check that every chair has a pen and a feedback form? While I'm giving the introduction, you can look after the late arrivals.

We'll have a short break every hour and a half. After lunch, the groups will swap rooms, so some people will stay where they are and others will move upstairs.

By the time we finish, everyone will be tired, so let's keep the closing short. I'll send you the photos once I get home.

One other thing: could you bring another extension lead? We never have enough. If you have any questions, call me — I'll be in the office until six on Thursday.

Thanks! Jo
