A l'A2 #19 la passiva era un grup de formes fetes: is included, was built, I was born.

Present Simple Coffee is grown in Brazil. El cafè es cultiva al Brasil.
Present Continuous The road is being repaired. Ara estan arreglant la carretera.
Past Simple The bridge was built in 1890. El pont es va construir el 1890.
Past Continuous The car was being washed when I arrived. Quan vaig arribar, justament estaven rentant el cotxe.
Present Perfect Our flight has been cancelled. Han cancel·lat el nostre vol.
Past Perfect All the tickets had been sold. Ja s'havien venut totes les entrades.
will The results will be published on Friday. Els resultats es publicaran divendres.
going to The old cinema is going to be sold. Vendran el cine vell.
verb modal The form must be signed.

negació The room isn't cleaned on Sundays.
pregunta Is the room cleaned every day?
pregunta amb paraula interrogativa When was the bridge built?
perfet Has the road been repaired yet? — No, it hasn't.

Qui fa l'acció és desconegut: My bike was stolen last night. Qui l'ha robada, no ho sap ningú.

Qui fa l'acció no importa o ja està clar: The office is cleaned every evening. He was arrested at the airport.

Es descriu un procés o una norma: First the flour is weighed, then it is mixed with water. Applications are checked within two weeks. Importen els passos, no les persones.

by: qui ho ha fet. Qui fa l'acció s'anomena amb by només si és important o nou per a qui escolta: This bridge was designed by a famous engineer.

La passiva amb dos complements. give, send, offer, show i pay tenen dos complements: a qui i què. A la passiva el subjecte sol ser la persona: They gave me a form → I was given a form.

Si el verb no té complement directe, no hi ha res per girar. happen, arrive, die, fall i appear no fan res a res, i no tenen passiva: What happened?, i no ✗ What was happened? Si no, no.

significat activa passiva
lie — lay — lain estar estirat, jeure I lay in bed until ten. no
lay — laid — laid posar, deixar She laid the papers on the desk. The papers were laid on the desk.
rise — rose — risen pujar (tot sol) Prices have risen again. no
raise — raised — raised apujar, aixecar (alguna cosa) The shop has raised its prices. Prices have been raised.

Prices rose last year. Els preus van pujar: sols, pel mercat.
Prices were raised last year.

Breakfast is served from seven to ten.
Mobile phones must be switched off. Cal apagar els mòbils.
The museum is visited by two million people a year.
I was given a map at the entrance. A l'entrada em van donar un mapa.
The baby was laid gently in the cot.

✗ He rose his hand → ✓ He raised his hand.

Posa't a prova. Com es diu en passiva They are repairing the road? «Es va estirar al sofà»: She lay down o She laid down?

mostra les respostes
The road is being repaired; rise no té complement directe i no té mai passiva: Prices rose, i si algú ha apujat els preus, Prices were raised; She lay down on the sofa — aquí lay és el passat de lie.

Errors dels parlants de català

adaptada al teu idioma
1

La passiva amb «es» paraula per paraula

✗ In this factory make cars

✗ Cars make in this factory

✓ Cars are made in this factory

L'anglès hi posa be + la tercera forma. Parlant, també va bé They make cars in this factory.

2

«S'està arreglant» amb -ing

✗ The road is repairing

✗ The road is been repaired

✓ The road is being repaired

Als temps continus la passiva porta being; been és del perfet: has been repaired, «ja està arreglada».

3

La passiva sense subjecte

✗ Was built in 1890

✗ When was built?

✓ It was built in 1890

When was it built?

4

«Pujar» per a tot

✗ The shop has risen its prices

✗ Prices were risen

✓ The shop has raised its prices

Prices rose / Prices were raised.

It was built in 1890 — /ɪt wəz ˈbɪlt/, The road has been closed — /həz bɪn ˈkləʊzd/. was, has i been es fonen en una síl·laba curta i àtona, i d'oïda t'has de guiar pel verb principal.

being i been es distingeixen pel nombre de síl·labes. being /ˈbiːɪŋ/ en té dues; been /biːn/, en la parla ràpida /bɪn/, una. is being repaired /ɪz ˈbiːɪŋ rɪˈpeəd/ contra has been repaired /həz bɪn rɪˈpeəd/.

Our bakery is in a small market town in Yorkshire. It has been run by the same family since 1952, and every loaf is still made by hand. Customers often ask how it is done, so here is the whole process.

The work starts at four in the morning. First, the flour is weighed and mixed with water, salt and yeast. The dough is then covered with a cloth and left in a warm place, and over the next two hours it slowly rises. While it is rising, the ovens are heated. Next, the dough is cut into pieces, and each piece is shaped by hand. The loaves are laid on long wooden trays and baked for about forty minutes. Then they are left by an open window to cool.

By seven o'clock the first bread has been delivered to three local cafés, and at eight the shop is opened.

This week the kitchen is being repainted, so fewer loaves are being baked than usual. And there is one more piece of news. Last year the price of flour rose sharply, so our prices had to be raised by ten pence a loaf. We were worried, but so far nobody has complained.
