B1 #8 pamokoje būtasis laikas po if nuvedė nuo tikrovės: If I had more time…

Forma: I wish + veiksnys + būtasis laikas.

I don't have a car. I wish I had a car.
I can't swim. I wish I could swim.
I have to work on Saturdays. I wish I didn't have to work on Saturdays.
It's raining. I wish it wasn't raining.
I'm not very tall. I wish I were taller.

I wish I had a car — „gaila, kad neturiu automobilio“. I wish I didn't have to work — „gaila, kad tenka dirbti“.

I wish I had a car — iš esmės pirmoji sąlygos sakinio iš B1 #8 pusė be antrosios: „jei turėčiau automobilį…“. Būtoji forma ir čia reiškia „tikrovėje to nėra“. Jei išmokote If I had…, tai I wish I had… sudaromas lygiai taip pat; dažnai jie ir stovi greta: I wish I had a car. If I had a car, I'd drive to work.

Su be tinka were visiems asmenims, kaip If I were you; šnekamojoje kalboje — ir was. Gebėjimą perteikia could: I wish I could drive. Pareigą — didn't have to, nes must būtosios formos neturi (A2 #10).

If only — tas pats, bet stipriau, beveik šūksnis: If only I had more time! — „Kad tik turėčiau daugiau laiko!“

I wish + would — noriu, kad kas nors pasikeistų. I wish you would stop interrupting me. — „Gal liautumeisi mane pertraukinėti“ — su priekaištu. I wish it would stop raining. Vietoj ✗ I wish I would… — I wish I could… arba I wish I had….

Palyginkite:

I wish he didn't smoke. Gaila, kad jis rūko. — tiesiog apgailestavimas dėl fakto
I wish he would stop smoking. Kad tik jis mestų! — noriu permainos, esu nepatenkintas

I hope you get the job. I hope it doesn't rain tomorrow. wish — apie tai, ko nėra: I wish I had a job. Yra ir trečia reikšmė — linkėjimas su daiktavardžiu, be būtojo laiko: I wish you luck, We wish you a happy New Year.

I wish I knew the answer. Gaila, kad nežinau atsakymo.
I wish you were here. Gaila, kad tavęs čia nėra.
I wish my neighbours would turn the music down. Kad tik kaimynai patylintų muziką.
If only I didn't live so far from work!

✗ I wish I didn't must work on Saturdays → ✓ I wish I didn't have to work on Saturdays. must neturi būtosios formos, todėl po wish reikia have to.

Pasitikrinkite. Ką reiškia I wish I lived in the country: žmogus gyvena kaime ar ne?

rodyti atsakymus
ne, jis gyvena mieste — wish + būtasis laikas kalba apie tai, ko nėra; I wish I spoke German (arba I wish I could speak German); hope — tai visai gali įvykti: I hope it's sunny tomorrow.

Lietuvių kalbos gimtakalbių klaidos

parašyta jūsų kalbai
1

Neigimas iš lietuviškos frazės

I wish I didn't have a car — taisyklinga anglų kalba, bet reiškia priešingai: „gaila, kad turiu automobilį“. „Gaila, kad neturiu automobilio“ — ✓ I wish I had a car.

2

would apie save

✗ I wish I would speak Italian

✓ I wish I spoke Italian / I wish I could speak Italian

Lietuviškai norą reiškia tariamoji nuosaka („norėčiau kalbėti itališkai“, „kad mokėčiau itališkai“), o jos įprastas vertimas — would. Bet I wish … would sakoma tik apie kitų elgesį ar orą, ne apie save.

3

Esamasis laikas po wish

✗ I wish I have more time → ✓ I wish I had more time; ✗ I wish I can drive → ✓ I wish I could drive.

4

wish vietoj hope

✗ I wish you will pass the exam

✓ I hope you pass the exam / I hope you'll pass the exam

I wish I had more time ↘↗

wish — /wɪʃ/: pradžioje lūpų /w/, o ne „v“; balsis trumpas /ɪ/, o ne ilgas „y“. Junginyje I wish I garsas /ʃ/ susilieja su kitu I: /aɪ ˈwɪʃ aɪ/ skamba be pauzės.

If only — kirtis ant only: /ɪf ˈəʊnli/. Pirmasis only garsas — dvibalsis /əʊ/, kaip go, o ne lietuviškas „o“.

Tekstas

I love my flat, but some days I wish I lived somewhere else. It's right in the centre of town, so everything is close. The problem is that it's tiny. I wish I had a proper kitchen — at the moment I cook on a small hob next to the sofa. And I wish the walls weren't so thin.

My neighbour upstairs is a nice young man, but he plays the drums. Every evening at ten, the concert starts. I wish he would practise in the afternoons instead. I've asked him twice, and he always says sorry, but nothing changes.

I also wish I could drive. If I had a car, I'd visit my parents more often. They live in a village in Yorkshire, and the trains there are slow and expensive. If only the buses were better!

Still, I'm not going to move. I like the cafés, the park and the noise of the street. I just hope my neighbour finds a new hobby soon. Maybe I'll buy him a guitar — a quiet one.
