He said, "I'll help you" → He offered to help me.
| advise — แนะนำ, ให้คำแนะนำ | The doctor advised me to rest. |
| warn — เตือน (ให้ระวัง) | She warned us not to swim there. |
| remind — เตือนให้จำ | He reminded me to lock the door. |
| invite — เชิญ, ชวน | They invited us to stay for dinner. |
ask และ tell จาก B1 บทที่ 15 ก็อยู่กลุ่มนี้: asked me to wait, told us not to be late
| offer — เสนอ (ความช่วยเหลือของตัวเอง) | He offered to carry my bag. |
| promise — สัญญา | She promised to call. / She promised not to tell anyone. |
| refuse — ปฏิเสธ ไม่ยอมทำ | He refused to answer. |
| agree — ตกลง, ยอม | They agreed to change the date. |
| suggest — เสนอ (ความคิด) | She suggested going by train. |
| apologise for — ขอโทษที่… | He apologised for being late. |
| thank ใคร for — ขอบคุณที่… | She thanked me for helping. |
| insist on — ยืนกรานจะ… | He insisted on paying. |
She suggested that we should go by train.
He said he would call me — เล่าต่อ คำพูด มี would; He promised to call me — เล่าต่อเจตนา และไม่ต้องมี would แล้ว การเล่าต่อ จึงไม่เพียงสั้นลง แต่ง่ายขึ้นด้วย
She promised that she would call, He agreed that the plan was good แต่สำหรับเจตนา รูปสั้นฟังเป็นธรรมชาติกว่า เวลาเล่าถึง บทสนทนา มักใช้กริยาบอกเจตนาสลับกับ said และ told ถ้าทุกประโยคใช้ said เรื่องจะฟังซ้ำซาก ถ้าทุกประโยคใช้กริยาบอกเจตนา จะฟังเหมือนรายงานการประชุม
| "You should see a doctor." / "If I were you, I'd…" | advise |
| "I'll help you." / "Shall I carry it?" | offer |
| "I'll do it, I promise." | promise |
| "No, I won't." | refuse |
| "OK, fine." | agree |
| "Let's…" / "Why don't we…?" | suggest |
| "Sorry I'm late." | apologise for |
| "Don't forget to…" | remind |
| "Be careful — don't…" | warn |
| "You'd better…" | advise |
| "You'd better not…" | warn |
คำแนะนำตรง ๆ: You'd better…
| You'd better see a doctor. |
| You'd better not be late again. |
| I'd better go — it's nearly midnight. |
| We'd better take an umbrella. |
ปฏิเสธใช้ not หลัง better: You'd better not 'd ตรงนี้คือ had ไม่ใช่ would แม้จะเขียน เหมือนกัน
should หรือ had better? You should see a doctor — คำแนะนำแบบสบาย ๆ “น่าจะ…” You'd better see a doctor — หนักแน่นกว่า และพูดถึงเรื่องเฉพาะหน้า: ถ้าไม่ทำจะมีผลตามมา ดังนั้นจึงไม่ใช้ had better กับความจริงทั่วไป: People should sleep eight hours ไม่ใช่ had better กับเจ้านายหรือคนแปลกหน้า You'd better…
การเล่าต่อ คำแนะนำตรง ๆ เล่าต่อด้วยกริยาบอกเจตนา: "You'd better see a doctor" → She advised me to see a doctor; "You'd better not swim here" → He warned us not to swim there had better ในการเล่าต่อไม่ถอยกาล และใช้แบบ said ก็ได้: She said I'd better see a doctor
| He offered to drive us.
| He suggested taking a taxi. |
| My friend advised me not to buy the car. |
| They refused to give us our money back.
| I apologised for forgetting her birthday. |
ไม่พูดแบบนี้ ✗ He insisted to pay → ✓ He insisted on paying หลัง insist ต้องมี on และรูป -ing เสมอ ✗ You'd better to go → ✓ You'd better go หลัง had better ไม่ใส่ to เหมือนหลังกริยาช่วย
ทดสอบตัวเอง "Let's take a taxi" ถ่ายทอดด้วยกริยาอะไร? He advised to rest ผิดตรงไหน?

✗ He suggested to go by train
✗ She suggested me to wait
✓ He suggested going by train
She suggested that I should wait “เขาเสนอให้ไปรถไฟ”, “เธอแนะนำให้ฉันรอ” — ภาษาไทยวางคนและกริยาต่อท้าย “เสนอ” หรือ “แนะนำ” ได้เลย แต่ suggest ไม่รับทั้งสองอย่าง: ตามด้วย -ing หรือประโยคเต็มที่มี that
He offered to go to the cinema He suggested going to the cinema
✗ He advised to see a doctor
✓ He advised me to see a doctor
✗ He apologised for be late
✗ Thank you for help me
✗ Sorry for late
✓ He apologised for being late
Thank you for helping me, Sorry for being late “ขอโทษที่มาสาย”, “ขอบคุณที่ช่วย” — กริยาไทยไม่เปลี่ยนรูป และ “สาย” ไม่ต้องมี “เป็น” ในภาษาอังกฤษ กริยาหลังคำบุพบทต้องเป็นรูป -ing และหน้า late ต้องมี being
advice นับไม่ได้
✗ He gave me a good advise
✗ many advices
✓ He gave me some good advice
a good piece of advice ภาษาไทยนับได้ — “คำแนะนำข้อหนึ่ง”, “คำแนะนำหลายข้อ” — จึง อยากเติม a หรือ -s แต่ advice นับไม่ได้: ไม่มี a และไม่มีพหูพจน์ ระวังการสะกดด้วย: advise — กริยา advice — คำนาม ต่างกันตัวเดียว
He offered to help. She refused to answer. They agreed to wait.
You'd better — /jʊd ˈbetə/: /d/ หน้า /b/ แทบไม่ได้ยิน ฟังเหมือน “ยู เบ็ทเทอะ” แต่เวลาเขียน ต้องมี 'd เสมอ เสียงหนักอยู่ที่ better และกริยาหลัก: You'd BETter GO
On Monday our team had a difficult meeting. We were supposed to finish a big presentation for a client by Friday, but half of it wasn't ready.
Tom arrived ten minutes late and apologised for keeping everyone waiting. He promised to send us his part that evening. Lucy offered to help him with the charts, but he refused — he said he had almost finished.
Then our manager, Helen, looked at the plan and suggested working in pairs. She advised us to start with the hardest slides and warned us not to change the design at the last minute. I reminded her that two people were on holiday that week. She thought for a moment and agreed to move the deadline to the following Wednesday. "But you'd better not ask for more time again," she added with a smile.
After the meeting Tom thanked Lucy for offering to help and invited us all to lunch. He insisted on paying for everyone. I think he simply felt guilty about being late.

Last Sunday we discussed our summer holiday. My husband suggested renting a cottage in Cornwall. My mother warned us not to go in August because of the crowds. My son refused to go anywhere without his friend, so we agreed to take the friend too. My brother offered to lend us his car. In the end I promised to book everything by Friday.
