say — dire QUOI He said that he was tired.
tell — dire À QUI He told me that he was tired.

say ne prend pas la personne sans préposition : ✗ He said me → ✓ He said to me ou He told me.

Le mot that peut être omis : He said (that) he was tired — les deux sont corrects.

"I am tired." He said he was tired.
"I work here." She said she worked here.
"I will call you." He said he would call me.

Les pronoms changent aussi : "I am tired" → He said he was tired.

On ne mélange pas le discours direct et le discours rapporté : soit He said, "I am tired.", soit He said (that) he was tired.

1

said me

« Il m'a dit que… » → ✗ He said me that… → ✓ He told me that… ou He said to me that…

2

told sans personne

« Elle a dit qu'elle était occupée » → ✗ She told that she was busy → ✓ She said that she was busy ou She told me that… Après told, la personne est obligatoire.

3

explained me

« Il m'a expliqué le problème » → ✗ He explained me the problem → ✓ He explained the problem to me.

He said he was tired. She told me she worked there.
