The woman who lives next door is a nurse. —

My mother, who is seventy, still works. —

My brother who lives in Italy is a doctor.
My brother, who lives in Italy, is a doctor.

The film (that) we saw was boring — that छोड़ा जा सकता है, उसके बाद we है। The film, which we saw last week, was boring.

who लोग the woman who called
which चीज़ें और जानवर the car which I bought
that लोग और चीज़ें, केवल पहचान वाले उपवाक्य में the book that you lent me
whose जिसका, जिसकी, जिसके the man whose car was stolen
where जगह the town where I grew up
when समय the summer when we met

whose his, her, their, its की जगह आता है: I met a woman. Her son goes to my school. → I met a woman whose son goes to my school. whose यह चीज़ों के लिए भी चलता है: a house whose windows face the sea — हालाँकि आम तौर पर कहेंगे a house with windows facing the sea।

where या which।

the town where I live — where
the town (that) I visited

अंग्रेज़ी में पूर्वसर्ग अपनी क्रिया के पास रहता है, उपवाक्य के अंत में: the man (who) I work with, the flat (that) we live in, the people I spoke to। the man with whom I work

I remember the day (when) we met.

Edinburgh, which is the capital of Scotland, has a famous festival.
The flat we live in is quite small.
Is that the café where you had breakfast?
July is the month when most people go on holiday.

✗ The book which I bought it yesterday is good → ✓ The book which I bought yesterday is good।

My father who is a doctor works in Leeds में अल्पविराम चाहिए या नहीं? the town where I visited क्यों नहीं कह सकते?

My father, who is a doctor, works in Leeds; visit का अपना कर्म है, इसलिए that, which या कुछ नहीं चाहिए: the town (that) I visited; the people I work with / the people who I work with / the people that I work with।

✗ The students who live in the city centre, they pay more

✓ The students who live in the city centre pay more

और अगर अल्पविराम दोनों तरफ़ लगा दें — The students, who live in the city centre, pay more, — तो अर्थ होगा कि सारे छात्र बीच में रहते हैं और सारे ज़्यादा देते हैं।

2

✗ My brother, that lives in Italy, is a doctor

✓ My brother, who lives in Italy, is a doctor

3

which या that की जगह where।

✗ This is the town where I visited

✓ This is the town I visited

where तभी, जब क्रिया का अपना कर्म न हो: the town where I live।

My brother ‖ who lives in Italy ‖ is a doctor.

My brother who lives in Italy is a doctor.

that उपवाक्य में बलाघात-रहित है, /ðət/: the book that you lent me — /ðə ˈbʊk ðət juː ˈlent miː/।

The town where I grew up is on the north-east coast of England, about an hour from Newcastle. It's the kind of place that most people drive through without stopping.

My grandfather, who was born there in 1938, worked at the port all his life. The port, which was once the busiest on that part of the coast, closed in the eighties, and many families lost their main income.

We lived in a narrow house that looked straight out at the sea. The room I slept in was at the top, and on windy nights I could hear the waves. The house has been sold twice since then, and the people who live there now have painted it bright blue.

Last summer I went back for a weekend. In a café near the harbour I met an old man whose father had worked with my grandfather. He remembered the winter when the harbour froze — something my grandfather had told me about, but I had never quite believed. We talked for two hours, and before I left he showed me an old photo that he kept in his wallet: both our families on the beach, all smiling at the camera.
