I want you to call me。この形は、人の言葉を伝える文で知っています:asked me to wait(第15課)、advised me to rest (第16課)。

I want you to call me tonight.
My parents wanted me to become a doctor.
I'd like you to meet my sister.
Would you like me to help?
We expect everyone to be on time.
I need you to sign here, please.
She doesn't want us to worry.

動詞のあとの代名詞は目的格です:me、you、him、her、us、them。 I don't want you to go のほうが、I want you not to go より自然に聞こえます。 Would you like me to…?

The teacher made us rewrite the essay.
That film always makes me cry.
My parents let me stay up late at weekends.
Let me help you.
Can you help me carry these boxes?

Let's(A1の第16課)で知っています:Let's go は let us go — 「私たちを行かせて」です。

I'll get Tom to fix it. I couldn't get him to listen. make と違って、get には to が付きます。

They let us leave early. to なし
They allowed us to leave early. allow — 同じ「許す」だが to が付き、より改まった言い方

We were made to wait for an hour. We were allowed to leave early. They let us leave early — We were allowed to leave early。

I — myself we — ourselves
you — yourself you — yourselves(複数の相手に)
he — himself, she — herself, it — itself they — themselves

Did you hurt yourself? She taught herself Italian. — 「ご自由にどうぞ(召し上がってください)」、Enjoy yourselves!

I'll do it myself. Did you make this cake yourself? The town itself is small, but the beaches are beautiful.

by myself — 「ひとりで;人の手を借りずに」:I live by myself. She built the website by herself. 同じ意味で on my own も使います:I did it on my own.

I washed and got dressed。

✗ I want he to come → ✓ I want him to come。

She let me to use her car

Would you like me to help you?; let のあとの動詞に to は付けない:She let me use her car; I fixed the bike myself または I repaired the bike myself.

✓ Let me explain。どちらのあとも、動詞に to は付けません:✗ He made me to wait → ✓ He made me wait。

2

✗ We enjoyed at the party → ✓ We enjoyed ourselves at the party / We enjoyed the party。 ✗ I enjoyed very much → ✓ I enjoyed it very much。

3

頼みごとを I want you to で言う。

I want you to check it I'd like you to… か、頼みごとの Could you…? を使います:✓ Could you check it, please? I want you to

want him to /ˈwɒnt ɪm tə/
made her wait /ˈmeɪd ə ˈweɪt/
let me help /ˈlet mi ˈhelp/

再帰代名詞の強勢は -self にあります: myself /maɪˈself/、yourself /jɔːˈself/、themselves /ðəmˈselvz/、ourselves /ˌaʊəˈselvz/。 I'll do it mySELF.

My first job was in a small café in Brighton when I was seventeen. The owner, Mrs Price, was very strict. She made us wear a white shirt every day, and she never let us use our phones behind the counter. She expected everyone to arrive ten minutes early, and if you were late, she made you stay ten minutes longer.

In the first week she wanted me to wash the dishes and nothing else. I was bored, so I asked her to let me make the coffee. "Not yet," she said. "I want you to watch Sam first." Sam was the oldest waiter, and he helped me learn everything: how to use the coffee machine, how to carry three plates at once, how to talk to difficult customers.

By the end of the summer I could run the café by myself on quiet afternoons. Once I burnt myself on the coffee machine, but I didn't tell anyone — I just held my hand under cold water and carried on.

On my last day Mrs Price made me a cake herself. "You've taught yourself a lot," she said. "Would you like me to write you a reference?" I still have it.

At my first job, my manager expected me to answer every email the same day. She made me write reports every Friday, but she let me work from home on Mondays. She didn't let us eat at our desks, and she made everyone switch off their phones in meetings. She wanted me to learn the new software quickly, so I taught myself in the evenings. A colleague offered to help, but I wanted to do it on my own. In the end I could do most things by myself.

チェックリスト:want、expect、would like のあとは人 + to ですか。 「ひとりで」は by myself か on my own ですか。
