Na A2 #29 nauczyłeś się rozpoznawać mowę zależną: He said he was tired — i rozumieć, że was nie oznacza tu przeszłości.

"I am tired." He said he was tired.
"I work in a bank." She said she worked in a bank.
"I'm waiting for a bus." He said he was waiting for a bus.
"I've finished." She said she had finished.
"I lost my keys." He said he had lost his keys.
"I'll call you." She said she would call me.
"I can help." He said he could help.
"I must go." She said she had to go.
"We may be late." They said they might be late.

Past Perfect, would, could, should i might się nie przesuwają: dalej do tyłu nie mają już dokąd. "I had finished" → She said she had finished.

Kiedy przesuwać nie trzeba. Jeśli czasownik wprowadzający jest w czasie teraźniejszym, przesunięcia nie ma: She says she's tired — tak przekazuje się to, co powiedziano przed chwilą. Jeśli to, co powiedziano, jest prawdą i teraz, czas można zostawić: He said he lives in Leeds — i nadal tam mieszka.

Past Simple: przesunięcie to podstawowa zasada, bez przesunięcia — też poprawnie. "I lost my keys" → He said he had lost his keys — tak według zasady, i tak najbezpieczniej na piśmie. Ale Past Simple w mowie zależnej często zostawia się bez zmian: He said he lost his keys. Szczególnie często tak się mówi, gdy czas jest nazwany: She said she arrived on Monday. W ćwiczeniach kursu przyjmowane są oba warianty; jeśli masz wątpliwości, przesuwaj.

Zaimki, miejsce i czas. Mówi teraz ktoś inny, dlatego I zmienia się w he albo she, a my — w his albo her. Jeśli relacja pada innego dnia albo w innym miejscu, zmieniają się też określenia czasu i miejsca:

w mowie niezależnej w mowie zależnej
now then
today that day
tomorrow the next day
yesterday the day before
next week the following week
here there

Tego samego dnia zmieniać ich nie trzeba: She said she'd call me tomorrow — jeśli jutro jeszcze nie nadeszło.

Pytanie: szyk zdania twierdzącego i if. Wprowadza je asked albo wanted to know.

pytanie wprost mowa zależna
"Where do you live?" He asked me where I lived.
"What time does the train leave?" She asked what time the train left.
"Are you coming?" He asked if I was coming.
"Have you seen my keys?" She asked whether I had seen her keys.

Pytanie ze słowem where, what, why zachowuje to słowo. Pytanie bez takiego słowa — na „tak” albo „nie” — dostaje if albo whether: to angielskie „czy” z „zapytał, czy przyjdę”.

Prośba i polecenie: to + czasownik. Prośbę wprowadza asked, polecenie albo rozkaz — told, i po nich stoi osoba i to + czasownik. Przeczenie — not to.

mowa niezależna mowa zależna
"Please wait here." She asked me to wait there.
"Close the door." He told me to close the door.
"Don't be late." She told us not to be late.
"Could you help me?" He asked me to help him.

Could you…? z formy jest pytaniem, a ze znaczenia prośbą, dlatego przekazuje się je przez asked me to.

Porównaj asked me to i asked me if:

He asked me to call Anna. Poprosił: „Zadzwoń do Anny”.
He asked me if I had called Anna. Zapytał: „Dzwoniłeś do Anny?”

Po to idzie prośba, po if — pytanie.

Tak się nie mówi. ✗ She asked if I was coming? → ✓ She asked if I was coming.

Jak przekazać słowa Anny "I've lost my phone"? Dlaczego She asked where I lived, a nie where did I live? Jak przekazać "Don't touch it!"?

pokaż odpowiedzi
Anna said she had lost her phone; w mowie zależnej pytanie ma szyk zdania twierdzącego i nie ma did, bo nie pytasz, tylko informujesz o pytaniu; He told me not to touch it — not to + czasownik.

Błędy osób mówiących po polsku

dostosowane do Twojego języka
1

Szyk pytający w mowie zależnej

✗ He asked where did I live

✗ She asked what time was it

✓ He asked where I lived

She asked what time it was. — „zapytał, gdzie mieszkam”), więc angielski szyk pytający przechodzi do niego bez zmian. Angielski rozróżnia: pytanie się zadaje — szyk pytający, o pytaniu się informuje — szyk zdania twierdzącego.

2

do zamiast if

✗ She asked me do I want a coffee

✓ She asked me if I wanted a coffee

Polskie „czy” zaczyna i pytanie wprost („Czy chcesz kawy?”), i pytanie zależne („zapytała, czy chcę kawy”). W pytaniu wprost odpowiada mu do, więc i w mowie zależnej stawia się do. Ale tu „czy” to if albo whether, a dalej idzie szyk zdania twierdzącego.

3

Rozkaz zamiast to

✗ She told me don't be late → ✓ She told me not to be late. ✗ He asked me close the door → ✓ He asked me to close the door. Po told me i asked me potrzebne jest to, a przeczenie to not to.

4

said me i told bez adresata

✗ He said me that…

✗ He told that…

✓ He told me that…

He said that… albo He said to me that…. Polskie „powiedział (mi)” obejmuje oba angielskie czasowniki. say mówi, co padło, tell — komu.

5

Czas bez przesunięcia

✗ She said she will call me the next day

✓ She said she would call me the next day

Wymowa

W pytaniu w mowie zależnej intonacja jest opadająca:

He asked where I lived ↘. She asked if I was coming ↘.

said i says: said /sed/, says /sez/ — z krótkim /e/, a nie /eɪ/, jak w say.

asked /ɑːskt/ — jedna sylaba: /sk/ i /t/ brzmią jedno po drugim, bez samogłoski między nimi.

that w mowie zależnej jest nieakcentowane: He said that he was tired — /ðət/, prawie niesłyszalne.

Yesterday I rang the shop about my missing order. The receptionist said that the manager was in a meeting and asked if I wanted to leave a message. I told her that I had sent two emails the week before and that nobody had answered.

She said she was very sorry and asked me what my order number was. Then she asked whether I had paid by card or by bank transfer. I told her that I had paid by card on the first of the month. She said the parcel had left the warehouse ten days earlier, but she couldn't see where it was now.

She asked me to wait for a moment and put me on hold. Two minutes later she came back and told me not to worry. The parcel was at the local post office, she said, and it would be delivered the next day. She also asked me to check my spam folder, because they had sent me a tracking number.

I checked. She was right: the email was there, with the tracking number and a message that said my parcel was on its way.
