16 minLa A2 #29 ai învățat să recunoști vorbirea indirectă: He said he was tired — și să înțelegi că was aici nu înseamnă trecut.
|---|---|
| "I am tired." | He said he was tired. |
| "I work in a bank." | She said she worked in a bank. |
| "I'm waiting for a bus." | He said he was waiting for a bus. |
| "I've finished." | She said she had finished. |
| "I lost my keys." | He said he had lost his keys. |
| "I'll call you." | She said she would call me. |
| "I can help." | He said he could help. |
| "I must go." | She said she had to go. |
| "We may be late." | They said they might be late. |
Past Perfect, would, could, should și might nu se deplasează: mai înapoi n-au unde. "I had finished" → She said she had finished.
"I lost my keys" → He said he had lost his keys — așa e după regulă, și așa e cel mai sigur în scris. Dar Past Simple din vorbirea indirectă se lasă adesea cum e: He said he lost his keys. Mai ales așa se vorbește când momentul e numit: She said she arrived on Monday.
Acum vorbește alt om, de aceea I devine he sau she, iar my — his sau her.
|---|---|
| now | then |
| today | that day |
| tomorrow | the next day |
| yesterday | the day before |
| next week | the following week |
| here | there |
În aceeași zi nu trebuie schimbate: She said she'd call me tomorrow — dacă „mâine” n-a venit încă.
Întrebarea: ordinea directă și if. De aceea are ordinea unei afirmații obișnuite — întâi subiectul, apoi verbul —, do, does, did dispar, iar semnul întrebării lipsește. O introduc asked sau wanted to know.
| întrebarea directă | vorbirea indirectă |
|---|---|
| "Where do you live?" | He asked me where I lived. |
| "What time does the train leave?" | She asked what time the train left. |
| "Are you coming?" | He asked if I was coming. |
| "Have you seen my keys?" | She asked whether I had seen her keys. |
Întrebarea cu where, what, why își păstrează cuvântul.
Rugămintea și instrucțiunea: to + verb. Negația — not to.
| vorbirea directă | vorbirea indirectă |
|---|---|
| "Please wait here." | She asked me to wait there. |
| "Close the door." | He told me to close the door. |
| "Don't be late." | She told us not to be late. |
| "Could you help me?" | He asked me to help him. |
Could you…? ca formă e întrebare, ca sens — rugăminte, de aceea se redă prin asked me to.
Compară asked me to și asked me if:
| He asked me to call Anna. | M-a rugat: „Sun-o pe Anna”. |
| He asked me if I had called Anna. | M-a întrebat: „Ai sunat-o pe Anna?” |
După to vine rugămintea, după if — întrebarea.
Așa nu se spune. ✗ She asked if I was coming? → ✓ She asked if I was coming.
Verifică-te. Cum redai cuvintele Annei "I've lost my phone"? De ce She asked where I lived, și nu where did I live? Cum redai "Don't touch it!"?

Povestind peste o săptămână: ✗ He said he is waiting for a bus → ✓ He said he was waiting for a bus; She said she would call.
„M-a întrebat unde locuiesc”, „a întrebat cât e ceasul” → ✗ He asked where did I live, ✗ She asked what time was it → ✓ He asked where I lived, She asked what time it was.
Subiectul lipsă după if și where
„M-a întrebat dacă vreau o cafea”, „m-a întrebat unde lucrez” → ✗ She asked me if wanted a coffee, ✗ She asked me where worked → ✓ She asked me if I wanted a coffee, She asked me where I worked. În română „vreau”, „lucrez” spun singure cine; în engleză propoziția de după if, where, that își cere subiectul — ca la said that (A2 #29).
„Mi-a spus” — said me
„Mi-a spus să închid ușa”, „a spus că e ocupat” → ✗ He said me to close the door, ✗ He told that he was busy → ✓ He told me to close the door, He said that he was busy / He told me that he was busy. „A spune” acoperă ambele verbe englezești, iar „mi-” trece după said. say spune ce s-a rostit, tell — cui; o instrucțiune se redă cu told me to.
„Să nu” cu don't
„Mi-a spus să nu-mi fac griji”, „ne-a spus să nu întârziem” → ✗ She told me don't worry, ✗ He told us don't be late → ✓ She told me not to worry, He told us not to be late. Dar după told me vine to + verb, iar negația e not to.
Pronunție
3 minÎn întrebarea redată intonația coboară:
He asked where I lived ↘. She asked if I was coming ↘.
that în vorbirea indirectă e neaccentuat: He said that he was tired — /ðət/, aproape neobservat.
Text
5 minYesterday I rang the shop about my missing order. The receptionist said that the manager was in a meeting and asked if I wanted to leave a message. I told her that I had sent two emails the week before and that nobody had answered.
She said she was very sorry and asked me what my order number was. Then she asked whether I had paid by card or by bank transfer. I told her that I had paid by card on the first of the month. She said the parcel had left the warehouse ten days earlier, but she couldn't see where it was now.
She asked me to wait for a moment and put me on hold. Two minutes later she came back and told me not to worry. The parcel was at the local post office, she said, and it would be delivered the next day. She also asked me to check my spam folder, because they had sent me a tracking number.
I checked. She was right: the email was there, with the tracking number and a message that said my parcel was on its way.
